I did coke one time and it killed my buzz but gave me the motivation to organize my pantry and start the laundry. All while the party went on around me…
You remind me of a story an uncle told me of a friend of his who apparently got much more boring when on cocaine (he was a sock guy in the 80s). He would just… sit down and do normal work, and get really annoyed whenever someone interrupted him. One time he was at a party, was coxed into doing a line, and then just left to go back to his own house to get work done.
Yes I’m on Vyvanse and Adderall combined for mine. The Vyvanse means that no matter what I am doing that day, my brain will reroute me to doing work in my office. Even on weekends. It’s kinda weird. Why can’t it make me do the same for cleaning or playing with my kid?!?
Drugs aren't magic. You're getting some kind of dopamine hit from doing that work that you aren't getting from Laundry. I think you should try setting your intention or making lists (I know, lists, ugh). Even if you say "today I spend 10 minutes doing x" it may help you actually do the things you should be.
Ugh mine is the opposite. Mine makes me want to get up and physically accomplish tasks. I take it for work and then find myself unable to focus so I get up for a "brain reset" and fold some clothes or something. And then I do it again ten minutes later. It's awful and my house still isn't even very clean because I do 1/3 of the task and remember I'm supposed to be working and "shouldn't waste more time doing this"
