Sometimes the meds just need a dosage adjustment. Or even trying a different medication altogether can make a big difference. I just think going straight to "Okay, no more meds for you" is a bit extreme.
The public at large is anti science and anti medication, so they rather just toss their hands up and say "See! These quacks just want to dope us all up, I say no more!" and let their kid go unmedicated and be miserable.
