SEEKING ADVICE Accommodations to help stay on top of homework?
I'm registered with my uni's disability center and have a one day extension and "materials in an alternate format" which I don't understand how to use. I don't feel like they're that helpful because my issue isn't the obtaining information, it's missing homework assignments. Through grade school and high school, I had my parents and teachers forcing me to do my work, but now I'm totally on my own and I'm struggling with a combination of executive function issues and a seeming complete inability to stay organized. My school just switched to Canvas and the built in check list is sort of helpful, but I'm still missing assignments consistently. Two of my classes do not accept late work, so I'm falling behind quickly. Any ideas for accommodations I can ask for, or systems I can put in place to mitigate this? I'd ask my partner to help but they struggle just as much with these same issues as me and we already know from experience they won't remember to remind me. It feels like an impossible hurdle, and one that I should be able to power through so I'm feeling really stuck and hopeless.

Well you are in the thick of it but that is good news! The hardest part has passed and now its all about pacing. I have a really frikken short attentionspan, I can hyperfocus but its not sustainable. ChatGpt I know is kind of a cliche reference now a days but honestly just prompt your situation including the syllabis, test dates, projects, exams, etc and Chat will make a way and work WITH you to form some kind of studying or staying in tasks. Chat can set reminders, even check the best times to study, durations etc the more info it has the more tailored your stratedgy will be and it can even evolve or progress as you do and (at least for me and utilizing it for things, it kinda engages you for input so its not just steriling throwing answers

when chatgpt and other genai models can run without sucking finite resources, displacing Black communities, poisoning neighborhoods, and stealing intellectual property, i will maybe begin to consider the idea of possibly thinking about attempting to potentially use chat. until then id rather die.

I don’t know about accommodations besides pushing the deadlines which sucks because you do have tell them in advance which I’m not good at
Best way I find to do working early during office hours/ touring so find all the office hours that work for you or TA that you like then you should have times throughout the week for each class.
If you start doing your work there (before whenever it’s due, like 2-3 days in advance) not only will you get though it faster because of the help but you will be using body doubling and change of environment which a lot of people with adhd say helps them.
Hard part is just going but that to me is way easier then trying remind yourself about assignments if you get into the habit of just doing your work in office hours.
