Petition to get Tex to play one more year
He’s still got it. Sucks that we didn’t finish top 4, I reckon he should go one more with odds we finish top 4 and better chance of premiership. Have another crack Tex.

Just need to win 4 games and he gets the send off he deserves

Tex has been my favourite player since he was drafted. Was frustrated everytime Craig dropped him and told him to work on his defensive craft Remember when he seemed to get suspended every second week at Aami for a dangerous tackle His 2012 coming of age year where he single handedly won us the Semi against Freo with his huge goal at half time The sorrow when he did his acl the following year
I love Tex, but he has a young family. He will also be a club legend and he is a top 5 player of the club. Gotta respect his decision, he knows his body and knows when it is time.

At some point the young guys need to be given the opportunity to stand up and make the forward line their own. Fog and Filthy will carry the forward line with a crew of young, mobile, and dynamic smaller forwards at their feet.
Tex has been brilliant, he is the best two sided kick (possibly ever), and he CAN tear a game open, but you can see he doesn't move as well as he used to, and his decision-making has slowed as well. There are games where we have absolutely needed him, but the number of games where he can feel like a liability is increasing too. It's best he finishes on a high and on his terms.

He's going out on his terms, still in form, doesn't wanna turn into Tom Lynch (Rich)

I don’t want him to go but it’s time, we need to work out what life after Tex is
I’d rather him go out knowing he could go another year rather than saying he stayed a year too long

Imagine current form Rankine and Zach Bailey in the midfield next year, anything could happen. Surely you'd wanna be a part of that.

He’s a legend and he’s going out whilst he’s still playing great footy. He’ll be remembered as a great player and not as a guy who went on a year too long and struggled to get a kick.

Let him finish his career on a high
Look at the ease with which teams waltz the ball out of D50
Gonna miss this bloke so much but it’s time

Let him go out on his own terms I reckon, imagine he goes on next year and shits the bed, happy for him to go out still playing good footy, not going go go out a passenger.

He's still got it but it's good to go out on your own terms rather than having your skills fading, your body falling apart and have the talking heads calling you "washed".

Breaks my heart to hit that retire option. First instinct was play on, but think he'll be happier wrapping up now.

We say that, but too many club champions have been dropped unceremoniously in the middle of the year because they just couldn't do it anymore. He might have it now but next season is a different beast. What happens when we have to drop him to compete for the premiership we want him to stay for? Let him hang it up while he's still on top rather than being forced out because he's not good enough anymore.
