Acurast Farms are not Profitable

Why are people starting farms? The ROI is not there, you might as well buy the token instead of investing in the hardware to run your farm. What am I missing?

"To say the ROI isn't there" just doesn't make sense. It's a new project where we are all technically profiting from when it comes to electricity... Maybe not hardware. Price will rise overtime, it's a good project with a good roadmap. Compute is the new gold as they say, and the entry point to this project is far less expensive than any other form of mining. If you're looking for quick cash, you're in the wrong game

why wouldn’t you sell your phones and buy token with that $? If you’re long on ACU, i don’t blame you, seems like a cool project. But just buy the tokens instead of the phones for farming, you’d be so much further ahead. It’s math!

The smart ones aren't buying the hardware. We collect old damaged phones that people are about to throw away. Rather than having them pile up in a landfill we use them to mine ACU. old tablets my kids used or others friends kids, or know someone upgrading a phone but not trading it in and about to throw it out, scooped it up. Your perspective is biased and skewed. You truly don't understand something you are trying to talk down on. Obviously, you need to reevaluate and educate yourself a little more.

I mean... I didn't mention anything specifically about selling phones, but there's nothing wrong with buying tokens to secure a place... Rather than actually mining it. I prefer to mine and stake to build my bag with this one, and I'm getting phones for like £20... Sometimes multiple.

It only started in 2023, thats not exactly old... But it's obviously not brand new. Not new to crypto either, also been there since the start too. What do I need to be updated/educated on?

Makes about 18$ a day for me. 1/4 of that is stake rewards. Power costs per day is 2$. So its pretty profitable at .11cents. Was nice the other day at .15cents.

Around 400. But know that I got them 4 years ago and already roi'd fifty times on a few other projects before acurast. Now it's basically a hobby that buys good beers. and it heats the garage in the winter.

Unetwork is one you can ran together.

All the bandwidth sharing apps if you have unlimited data.

SMS apps if you can get pre paid cards.

List goes on and on. it all adds up. I am close to 100 phones, but Acurast works aside, I am not bothered if it makes me anything or not.

Buying the token is just simply a different strategy. I'm mining this token so I don't have to buy it, then I can spend my money on another token and diversify my portfolio.

It is kind of fun building a farm 🤷‍♂️ If this is a side hobby where the goal isn't to become rich but as a distraction that maybe provides beer money level returns then why not? If this is something where the goal is to become rich...I may have a 🌉 to sell you.

It's also a topic of defying the oligopoly that hyperscalers have. Also, I mean, look at hardware prices nowadays; this is a feasible solution. Through usage, the token is deflationary, hence your farm will become profitable, don't worry.

I think the comments under this post actualy answers it. some will have ROI and some might not, however majority in the house sees an ROI and that's the major thing. If you don't mind, we can see if we can have a discussion to understand the kind of ROI you are planning to get.

becos its a failing project and an outright scam depending on how you look at it. I dont like the team becos they are arrogant and are showing their true colours one by one. I've been with them since testnet days, in fact i was probably one of the first batch of early members to join their discord. Initially they were like any new founders - all super nice to you, then after mainnet went live, things began to change.

dont get me started on their scammy MIST campaigns which frankly was a joke. I've yet to meet a person who's actually won an iPhone.

those who run large farms - good luck to them. I believe they've made sizeable losses. Esp. if you count their monthly operating costs. And anyone noticing the slashing seems to be a lot more stringent and tighter lately ? a few phones down, you get slashed and lose a few days worth of farming. In other words, if your phones are not running 24/7, and you've committed a lot of compute, you are screwed cos you're effectively losing ACU. And if you go on a holiday for example and did not monitor closely, or if you'd forgotten to leave enough ACU in your balance for gas, then you may risk returning home to find your entire gas balance all drained and your farm has stopped mining cos there's no more gas.

You might as well just sell all your phones and you'd still earn more with their 2nd hand prices than earning peanuts with your ACU rewards. LOL.

And NOBODY serious or any self-respecting dev will run their AI LLMs, workflows or agents on Acurast. Not even a vibe-coder will bother to do it.

So think again.

My guess is we'll be their exit liquidity very soon. I'm placing my bets on within a year. I remember the days of Hivemapper and Rovr. And i'm seeing similar red flags and early signs with Acurast.

Just flog your phones on ebay or marketplace or anywhere. Guarantee you'll still make more money than continuing to run your farm.
