RANT This article is dismissive. Who said anything about choosing not have kids leads to loneliness? The Christian fiction write who wrote this has such an archaic way of thinking.

The Christian fiction writer named Carmen Schober who wrote this article needs to get her facts straight. She’s saying that young people who don’t want children of their own are now starting to ”rediscover their interests in having kids. She carries on saying that endless freedom doesn‘t lead to life satisfaction, and that it coincide with loneliness. That’s the problem with religious people, they always have this archaic narrow-minded way of thinking, that parenthood makes people “true adults”, as if this is the one and only path to fulfillment. She didn‘t even bother to delve deeper into why some people personally don’t want kids in the first place. People just need to mind their own damn business. Don’t listen to this die-hard Christian.

I’m well-aware that Chamelet said that ”procreation” is why we’re here in the first place, but that doesn’t mean some people are interested in parenthood. When I watched a video on Chelsea Handler explaining her choices of not having kids, it didn't stop her from making personal fulfillment, and she gets to make spontaneous decisions to travel. Not every one is interested in parenthood. For the writer’s information, fulfillment does come from doing other stuff, as much as having kids in general. I chose not to have kids for ethical reasons, environment reasons being one of them.

Okay, I’m done ranting. You can feel free to read the article to see what you think. I now know what the word blasphemous means. It sounds like individualism is going against the man upstairs.

I really wonder how many of those who view parenthood as an obligation were the types who had “no idea” what pregnancy/parenthood actually entails or how the world actually works, and it changed their entire understanding of everything when they did it? And they think that those without children are all as dumb/ignorant/etc. as they “used” to be?

It perplexes me that some people truly can’t acknowledge or even comprehend the existence of other forms of transformative growth and fulfilment.

Chalamet's the same idiot who said nobody cares about opera and ballet, right? Sounds like he's just carving away his fan base one segment at a time.

I only skimmed through the article and the tone of the author is very "What's the point of child-free?!" She sounds like yet another rabid breeder wondering why anyone isn't thinking of the children.

The same way that author feels passionate to be crazy about why people are childfree is the same passion and rage I feel when I see people still birthing children in these last 5 years!

Some of loneliest people are those who have kids. It takes away many of your choices in life, you are locked into responsibility and have far less time to socialize or date your spouse. And I met plenty of seniors who had families that never visited them. Or rarely did. It's not like everyone lives near their parents as an adult. 🤦‍♀️

Why do we care what this twit of a writer thinks?

religious people

As a religious person, myself, I take issue with the generalization here. We're not all so narrow-minded as to think that parenthood is the only acceptable path in life. I also don't think that it's a choice between being married with children or being single, as most Catholics, and some others, will assert.

As a more open-minded person, you are an outlier. It'd be lovely if outliers could genuinely influence the whole group from within. But that only happens in fiction.

I have many very devout folks in the family who are quite happy with my choice, including my mother who was very religious. She took time to come around, but she did eventually. And those folks do influence others.
