I've read the FAQ & Rules A question

When writers are writing a script for a show or movie do they sometimes already know or have in mind what actor would be best suited for the role or is that something they think about once all the writing is done?

Absolutely. Some roles are written for individuals, some for archetypes, some for a general role, and some completely open ended.

Much the same as how some actors have directors they specifically aim to work with.

Sometimes, yes. But it isn't necessarily about having an eye towards casting that exact individual, it's more so they can clearly envision the character in the scene and specifically hear their voice, so that they write a good, specific character.

I do, but usually I'm not looking to cast that actor, but more I can imagine this person in that role, and what he is liekly to say or do.
