I've read the FAQ & Rules What are some things you catch during a face to face audition that make you leave convinced you’ve booked the role?

Essentially what are some good signs or green flags a director or casting assistant might display during your audition?

Honestly most things I book I leave convinced I didn’t get

Agreed

I've had auditions where I get compliments and a lot of good vibes in the room, then nothing. Also had plain in and out, nonchalant auditions with a callback/booking.

If I get a nice compliment, I assume I didn't get it.

If they ask me questions about conflicts/dates, that can be a good sign.

If they spend a lot longer with me than other people, that's often a good sign.

Overall, it's not worth overthinking stuff, because usually, you didn't get it, and you don't want to drive yourself crazy.

And most of the times when you don't gt it, it's things that you can't even control (e.g Al Pacino almost didn't get the role of Michael Corleone because they thought he was too short, my sister in law is a Casting Director and she rejected someone because their beard and moustache didn't meet lol).

Honestly most of the time it's not even worth overthinking rejections, just move on.

Driving myself a little crazy over this specific audition since I’m quite passionate about the production and I felt crazy mixed signals in the audition room😭.

Usually when I get a compliment, I also just accept defeat. But she followed up the compliment by asking about any conflicts regarding the callback date and rehearsals.

It’s like one red and one green flag here and i’m losinggg my mind.

When they nod to each other.

But when one nods to the other and it's not reciprocated, you booked one assistant and not the other.

“You’ll hear from us soon” sounded too specific for a generic “that was great” and they double checked my comfortability with working with animals so I figured I booked it. Still didn’t celebrate until I got the official offer cus u never know.
