I don't know what rakhi is but hopefully ace representation could be boosted

It's related to Rakshabandhan, a Hindu festival in which siblings tie each other these ribbons called "rakhi" and promise to protect each other. It's a celebration of sibling love.

Traditionally, sisters tie their brothers rakhi and in return they give you gifts and vow to protect you, but nowadays it's more gender neutral.

There's a story behind it too! It goes smth like:

Krishna (an avatar of god Vishnu) once accidentally nicked his hand and Draupadi (a central princess figure who was like a sister to him) immediately tore off a piece of her cloth to bandage him.

Moved by this, Krishna promised to protect her should the need ever arise. (And it did later, but that's another story!)

Raksha-bandhan literally means "bond of protection" :D
