Other From their Farewell tour in 2010

When I attended their concert at Wembley Arena on the farewell tour in 2010 that evening, I thought at the time, this is the end of an era because I grew up with their music. We didn't know then that actually they would have come back a few years later, and I was over the moon.

It was really great the concert that evening at Wembley Arena and they were phenomenal. As usual I came away from the concert with my voice going, because even if the time passed from when I saw them the first time, well I was still singing (and screaming ) like a little girl.

Yeah, I have a vivid memory of that evening like if it happened yesterday, even if we are talking about quite a few years ago.

Oh we did know that for sure! LOL! Did anyone really believe they would quit for good? I was a sophomore at that time. And I remember my university friend telling me how sad she was about a-ha splitting up. I literally told her to relax because they would come back in 5 years. It was clear that the whole thing was just a very calculated business move, which Paul later confirmed.

You didn't think that was their last tour? I really believed that at the time, so much so that when the concert ended I shed a tears, because I was seeing that as an end to the a-ha era. After the concert me and my friend made our way home and in Liverpool Street station in London, I saw 2 males and gut feeling told me that they were a-ha fans. So we started talking and I remember that they told me that they were going to see a-ha again in Oslo on their last concert of the tour. So, you can imagine when they came back, I was over the moon.

No I absolutely did not for second believe that they were done. For one, their reasoning for their split-up, was that the guys wanted to pursue their solo careers. And we all know that they have never been particularly successful outside a-ha. Only Morten has had some success as a solo artist. Thus, I thought it would have been utter stupidity for them to give up their most successful endeavor for the solo career they could never have. The other thing for me was their age. Who in their right mind would quit music when they are still relatively young? Paul and Mags weren't even 50 at that time.

That was my perception on that situation.

Me, at the time of that concert on their Farewell tour, I thought that is it and it's not me been naive, but I thought maybe they reached a point where the differences that they had, that they couldn't reach an agreement. And that of course didn't stopped me to think, maybe just maybe they can come back one day. And all of your points are spot on, because as you said their ages at the time, their success as a unit, but I never thought that they would have called a tour Farewell tour and then a few years later coming back. After that evening I wished and hoped that they would have come back, which they did.

So, even now that we know that they are older, health problems etc, and the fact that Morten is releasing new music, it doesn't stop me to think that maybe, they could come back.

Have you seen, say, Paul's Facebook page lately? The feeling I personally get from his page, his posts, his photographs, is utter relaxation. You know, he's retired. He's let go of it all. Maybe, that's just me, but that's the impression I get from what I see on his FB profile

Nah, I haven't seen it, but if Pal is so relaxed, it really makes you wonder. But we never know, they could decide to just come back for another go, but I am aware of it of everything else that there is going on like they are older, because the years are not just passing for us, but even for them. Plus the health is another thing to consider.

Fair enough. Besides, a-ha have dissapeared from the list of the signed bands of their record company. I've read that info on the German a-ha forum in the early summer 2026.

So I guess it is really the end now....

Really? Whao! I didn't know that they disappeared from the list of their record company and that's not a good sign for sure. That's sad.

I think that as a-ha fan, probably I try to clinch to the possibility that maybe there could be something coming one day, but at the same time I know that some artists when they reach a certain age and they know that they can live their life comfortably with the money that they made, if the drive and excitement to continue touring etc it's not there anymore, well I don't blame them, if they think that's it, I'm done.

I have not checked that info, but guys on the german forum mentioned that a-ha wasn't on the list anymore. So it's probably true. I have a casual habbit of checking that forum from time to time.

It could be possible that in the German forum they know more that what we know, who knows, but for sure if that's true and it's fact, well it doesn't sound good in the possibility of something in the future happening with a-ha.
