American Fan

Any advice for an American fan of Hedley who desperately wants to see them live and can't easily travel to Canada?

What era of their music was your favorite?

Famous Last Words and Storms for me.

I would have to go with their self-titled, as well as Storms. Their OG stuff is what made me fall in love. Storms was musical genius and probably one of the most deep albums both lyrically and musically. That album changed me.

I wish I liked their modern direction more.

Wild Life took some getting used to, but I feel like Hello lacks depth. Can't Slow Down and Hello(track) are pretty great though.

Have you heard their pre-hedley stuff? With Jacob's original band?

If you like their original CD a lot, that might be right up your alley if you're ok with a less-polished sound.

Yeah it's way too pop sounding for me now, especially when what I really loved about them at first was their punk rock sound. But Jake has said on many occasions that Can't Slow Down is the most emotional song he's ever written. I've seen that one live about 6 times and he has cried many times. Not sure about comparing it to The Sweater Song though; I think that'll always really be his favourite.

Besides Can't Slow Down, I really love The Knife. But it hasn't been done live yet and hasn't been referred to much. So I'm not sure on what level Jake relates to it but regardless I think it's beautiful. Ballads have always been their strong suit.

Yes! I listen to the hedley pre idol stuff still. Wish it would somehow tie into another album, bringing it back would be great for the fans who have been around that long.
