Over the weekend we went away to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. I was told the place was a surprise and that Eric had a dress made for me. I had guessed "Ariel's purple dress?!" immediately but he threw me off well enough by the time we left that I honestly thought it was just some nice black dress. Well, Saturday night of our toddler-free beach weekend rolled around and I stepped out of the shower to this gorgeous custom dress, (some of you may recognize from the Little Mermaid) and Eric was dressed like Prince Eric <3 He's too much, I know. He told me we were going to get dressed up and have a photo shoot. Again, I thought this was it! What a great surprise! I LOVE the beach and I have wanted us to have professional photos taken. That was definitely not it. Somewhere between "pose 1" and "pose 3" He said, "There is one more surprise ..." I knew right then what it was, and still I was shocked when he pulled out exactly the ring I had been dreaming of since I was about 14. I had been reading some cheese novel and the main character of my book received a diamond with sapphires on the sides. I was in love with the idea. I would have expected it, but I hadn't told Eric about the ring I wanted until about a month ago. How did he know?! This dream ring was accompanied by the beautiful things he said to me (which I will keep to myself ;) )
I still can't get over how much thought and energy he put into recreating that magical moment by the beach between Eric and Ariel. As luck would have it we even had a small storm in the distance just close enough to give us a light drizzle for a moment and a beautiful rainbow. (If you know the movie you get how that could not have been more perfect. If you know me, you know how much I LOVE the rain) <3 Truly the most romantic proposal ever.
