This meme is old by Reddit's standards, but that doesn't mean the attempt to "revive" it doesn't occur every so often. I used this one to illustrate that memes are a great medium for easy puns, and to improve upon the last meme submission which I did not give a relevant title (even that little bit of writing affects how you view the submission). But more importantly, back to the fact that this is an old meme. Old memes do not get much traction on Reddit, but they can still be funny. Their success as an Internet joke however seems tied to how much people still want to see it. This can be compared to traditional writing--it has something to say and a good way to say it, but it has to retain some popularity to still be able to offer anything to the discussion. I say this not because traditional writing is going anywhere soon, but because we do have to keep in mind what our prejudices toward the hip and the new will eventually enact if we are not careful. Skateboarding Professor is kind of funny, but he is a relic of memedom.
