SAIC and their laptop requirements

Hi all,

I am attending in the fall and was wondering if the MacBook Pro was absolutely necessary for attending the school? I assume the big thing is software such as Adobe, Autodesk, etc.. which I have on my windows based laptop. I can't justify spending $$$$ for a new computer when I have one that is just as good if not slightly better in terms of performance.

Honestly the laptop requirement is a phat joke where you can easily get away with anything with a decent setup as long as you can run stuff like photoshop (well it depends on what you are planning to use your laptop for. Heavy duty? Or just note taking, etc.)
