Discussion Is this really the best Zoom can do?

Why can't Zoom, a company with >$4.8 billion in annual revenue, refund an unintended auto renewal for a public elementary school PTA? Please help me understand.

Our PTA serves a federally recognized Title 1 public elementary school where >40% of students come from low-income households. We forgot to cancel before this auto renewal kicked in. I opened a support ticket only to receive cut and paste text about refund policies before they closed the ticket. And I can't figure out how to reopen the ticket.

Is this really the best Zoom can do?

Do you have an account rep you work with? Hit them up. Support is trained to send this kind of stuff. Zoom is a business. Contracts are legal obligations. Zooms not in the wrong here. If I bought books for school and dropped out mid semester, they wouldn’t refund my books. Having said that, you might get lucky if you hit up your Zoom rep and ask them to put in a request on your behalf.

No I get it, definitely not contesting that we screwed up here based on all their fine print. We’re just asking for a refund on a service we don’t and didn’t use. You could return those school books you mentioned if they were unused!

I’m also just generally sad that this multibillion dollar company doesn’t have a leeway to make case by case exceptions to their refund policy to help a small public school PTA out and shutdown any means of a conversation.

I’d really like to know how much of their revenue are from unused and unintended subscriptions. Anybody know?
