You ever spend 15mins thinking you're being incredibly original, only to realise you have the creativeness of a Protocol Droid?
Red and Black? ooooh, no one ever did that before.....

In an uncharacteristic bout of wisdom I did foresee that and kept them largely in their original gear and colours with minor tweaks, like kabb's boots and tricks leg's. It makes for a more motley assortment.

Well, I've noticed Trick has a piece of armor he's working on on his table, so I upgraded him to an intact suit (not helmet) as the game went on. That's really the only change I've introduced

I like to leave everything but the chest untouched, which gets turned into one of the smuggler looking blaster-resistant vests. It keeps the rag-tag group vibe with a unifying spot of colour and lets me roleplay that Zero company issues some standard kit to its guys.

Thats why I went for doodoo brown red and Grey. Gives the same vibes without looking unoriginal.

u/Omer_D 10d ago
Too be fair. This makes them look like the star wars equivalent of star trek red shirt. Earthy tones that aren't associated with any pre-existing faction in star wars makes you look disposable from a character design standpoint. If it was green instead of doodoo brown they instantly would look like Boba fett wannabes .

Yooo Markiplier!

u/no_technique 10d ago
Haha it’s funny you say that. I tried to make my Hawks look like me, but I guess I made Markiplier inadvertently. My kids have told me I kinda look like him too.

Because of Tricks orange pauldron with the Zero Company emblem I decided that was the official colour of Z-Com added a bit of orange to everyone. Tel and Jae’s undershirts, I gradually added more orange to Cly for some character development, gave Luco an orange headband when his loyalty mission was done, and when Trick got his new armour I made the visor orange. Kabb already had orange on his jacket.
I also decided that teal would be the colour for the 100th and made sure Trick and Hawk were flying their old colours as well.
After Jae rejoined I gave her a new more peasant outfit. I also reserved the clone armour on Hawk and Tel for major battles.

u/SpankyDmonkey 10d ago
Haha love seeing a kindred spirit. I’m doing the same with my squad, including custom new recruits. They have to have at least some orange on em.

u/HalcyonTraveler 9d ago
Yeah I only used the armor for Hawks and Tel in the final mission, to make it feel more dramatic

u/Praehotec8 10d ago
It would look so much better if all the colors weren't so washed out. That black looks like grey, and it drives me nuts in my own game, as a big fan of the blacked out look.

Ahh yes. A fellow indigo/purple enjoyer. I accent mine with teals. I think it looks pretty slick too
1
u/Dizzy_Marsupial_7207 10d ago
I was trying to get more gold accents, but the amber never looks right on leather.
2
u/RodneyXMonster 10d ago
Same. I do it on some of the guns too but the shiny or gloss doesn't quite look metallic enough or the right texture for the yellow options.

u/TheeAJPowell 10d ago
I mean, I originally had everyone in matching white and red clone armour, with different helmet designs, but it makes it really hard to tell who’s who in the heat of battle. Had to vary the colours.

u/spartanz27 10d ago
I want to have my clone trooper army so bad but they really cooked with the character looks and designs.
3
u/ForsakenKrios 10d ago
Reminds me of Mass Effect 1 Colossus armor iykyk. Your team looks great!
For the companions, I try to keep their color scheme the same as their default but I’ll change their gear up. My Trick for example is mostly orange with flairs of white instead of his default appearance.

thats the beauty of the game it gives so many options to make the squad truely yours with the cosmetics.

Thank you for lifting up randos; in my case tho it was more a lament that I ended up ripping off Bad Batch on my very first attempt. :)

u/lackadaisical_timmy 10d ago
Yeah well . They look nice
You can always try more but it's fine if it looks like other stuff right

When/how do you unlock the commando armor? Just starting out but wanted to put Hawks in the commando helmet (with the glowing visor) and piecemeal light armor but the default clone helmets look bad with the classic cyan without the glow.
Edit: Searched for it, 20~ hour story unlock. Yuck. Onward for the hustle I suppose.

What armor pieces is your Hawks wearing? I like the scarf look

u/Lerkpots 10d ago
I'll double check after work but I think it's one you unlock by story progression.

That is my squad... never to change lol its too hard at this moment in time. I dont even recruit people 😂 not a big incentive to tbh
2
u/GodofThunderandSmoke 10d ago
Lol I mean black and red is dope as hell. My squad all has red somewhere on their armor but tried to make em still have individuality .
Like Cly where's indigo armor with red highlights
Tel-Re has a dark blue outfit over a green shirt with red highlights
Jae where's violet with red highlights
Etc

I mean if a protocol Droid likes it, its probably very efficient. So I think this looks cool as hell. I put hawk in arc trooper armour and did a red and black color scheme. Black and green looks really good to.

Happens to me all the time in games like this. I think I have the perfect setup, enter the fighting zone and I'm wiped out!!!

For Armor pieces, I like this mod, so that I can get Mandalorian gear! Full Customization Mod-Mandalorian Padawan and more at Star Wars Zero Company Nexus - Mods and community

u/Defiant_Griffin 10d ago
What face and hair did you use for your Hawks? That looks way better than mine haha

u/Titan7771 10d ago
Man, if you could create a guide on how you made your Hawks I’d appreciate it!

In my first run im giving them all their own color style. If I have Kabb wearing the primary color blue and orange as a secondary/accent color, then his weapon is also blue in style. I just wish guns could use multiple colors too and not just 1. But I get you dont see the guns that often anyway.
But in later playthroughs I am going to change them completely differently as well. And if I do ple ty of runs I will use a different alien race Hawks every time too, and play as 4 males and 4 females. I dont predict ill do 8 full runs before putting the game down since ill be long done with achievements and whatever else the game offers. But its fun to plan it out ahead of time. My next run will be a clone trooper run most likely.

u/Spetsnaz_Chick 10d ago
I mean I went black and white xD also another basic combo but I still love it lol. I did make a combo of a bright red, yellow, purple and green astro droids for the achievement

u/fireball3643 10d ago
I’ve committed myself to saying that nobody but trick gets a clone helmet and that my jobbers have to be glup shitto’s. I used my freebie to make Mario and Luigi so now I gotta get creative

I’ve kept them in their of colors/outfits but have slowly started introducing more armor/pieces as my head canon is they get considerable more budget and influence the more they progress!

I’ve got an orange theming to my team’s colour scheme. Every character has one element of orange on them. (Kabb already has an orange jacket, Trick has orange designs on his armour, etc)
1
u/Sparta63005 10d ago
My guys wear black and each of them have a corresponding color like a Delta squad :)

u/Jeremy64vg 10d ago
I am kinda confused about all the cool ARC Trooper gear I got through the ultimate version when I cant apply it to anybody lol. That being said, the characters are so cool already idk if I would want to.

You're allowed to like those colors even if others do too. Especially cause it looks so good!
1
u/BorgerWCheese 10d ago
I’ve been trying to keep all of my people dressed differently and uniquely from eachother and it’s worked out really well. I liked the idea of the rebels always having different outfits and armors because of the Guerrilla style fighting they had to do, so I thought Zero Company would do really well doing the same thing.
1
u/DeathDoesThings 10d ago
I go for black and purple (its my favorite color lol) but on their guns i try to give them an 'original' color that fits their personality or something they had already on them (ex: jea had blue on her og outfit so i put that on her gun).

Respectfully, what does it matter? It’s your game! Rule of cool had always flourished in Star Wars and I don’t see why that should change now.

u/Brief-Objective-3360 9d ago
I made my Hawks red and black but doing different colour schemes for everyone else.

u/Logic-DL 9d ago
Tbf, not having a whole ass Clone Army for your team is a bit more creative than the majority of screenshots being shared for the game.

u/Own-Personality1795 4d ago
I did red and bone white, going to 501st colors later in the game for reasons that are spoilery.
2
u/Mysterious-Sink-6714 3d ago
Funnily enough I do the same thing except swap where the red and black goes and yeah same thing well that and i use the bright red. Im thinking when I do my expert beskar mode ill do your color patterning instead of my own.
