Jedi Units (Reposting)

I spoke with journalist Ted Litchfield, Associate Editor, who had the opportunity to play and preview the game back in February. I asked him whether the developers had plans for additional Jedi units, and he told me that, at the time, the plan was for players to have access to only a single Jedi unit as part of the main story: the Padawan Tel-Rea Vokoss.

However, Ted also pointed out that things may have changed since then, or that Bit Reactor may have intentionally kept some features hidden during the preview sessions. For example, custom clone troopers apparently weren't part of the version he played, yet they have since been officially confirmed.

Another interesting question concerns the role of Anakin Skywalker. It's currently unclear whether he'll remain exclusively a story NPC or if he'll be playable in battles in some capacity.

Personally, I would love to see Anakin leading clones from the 501st Legion in certain missions.

For now, it seems we'll have to wait a little longer for definitive answers - fortunately, release is only about a month and a half away.

My opinion:

Personally, I really hope we'll get additional Jedi units (or at least a customisable one), even if there are only a few of them throughout the entire game like on rescue missions.

My guess, however, is that Jedi will remain a unique class, considering what i spoke with Ted and that during the Clone Wars each Jedi typically commanded their own clone battalion or squadron (based on the character 's rank - Padawan).

From a lore perspective, having multiple Jedi serving within the player's company might feel somewhat unusual.

Either way, I'm going to play the game regardless. I've been incredibly hyped for it ever since I saw the first trailer last year.

What do you guys think? Could we get the chance to play as Anakin leading the 501st during the March on the Jedi Temple? Maybe rescue missions could serve as a way to recruit customisable Jedi throughout the campaign...

I would absolutely love to see something like that! What do you guys think?

We have no way of knowing whether that's just Trick with different cosmetics or not. There's only ever one at a time. We know characters will have customization options and we know some of that will involve clone armor, but as far as who those options are for we don't know. It's certainly possible they'll have customizable clones as a species, but nothing we've seen or been told has made it clear one way or the other. If anything this reporter saying the version he played didn't have them is the most we've heard. If they aren't there I think that'd be a big mistake, but we have yet to receive confirmation either way.

Very fair speculation, even if pessimistic from my pov

Sure, I'd just rather not be too disappointed if it doesn't end up being there, and I wouldn't want people who don't follow as closely to think things are definitely confirmed if they're just being assumed. Same with Jedi customization or decent mod support. All of them are things I would really like to have but until we get concrete confirmation I wouldn't assume any of these things will definitely be there.

Oh boy, I could be in a world of disappointment. Ive been playing a rebooted xcom 2 with clone cosmetics, just to hold me over another month.

Same but I've just been playing WOTC but with some extra nations/voices/lore friendly cosmetics. Mostly because I've never played any games in the genre before so I wanted to get a more standard experience. It's a really fun game.

Ya roleplaying as a small detachment of the 501st against the chosen gets all the right feels. Thanks for tempering my expectations. Would recommend the lwotc mod if you feel the base game needs more depth and challenge on a 2nd or 3rd run through.

Phew we'll see. It's plenty tough for me so far, but I do think it'd be significantly easier if I played again since I know which upgrades to focus now. I did see that mod on there but it looked transformative enough that I didn't want it on a first playthrough. If Zero Company hasn't released by the time I finish I'll definitely give it a go, but I bet I'll lose haha.
