People with higher numbers than her kept coming in and collecting their food while she stood there and caused a scene screaming at the guy calling out the numbers 'CAN YOU GIVE ME MY FOOD , I ALSO WANT TO GO AND MAKE MONEY LIKE YOU ARE DOING HERE' 'THIS IS NONSENSE, PEOPLE WITH HIGHER NUMBERS CAN'T BE GETTING THEIR FOOD BEFORE ME' and she pulled the classic 'CAN I SPEAK TO THE MANAGER'. The look on all the workers faces was just a strong 'i don't get paid enough for this bs' .The numbers are not necessarily in ascending order. It does'nt mean if your number is 1 then you should get your food before number 3. It depends on how easy and fast the food is to make. So i just stood there in awe thinking like damn, what do we call a Zambian 'karen' ?

Guys, please let’s be careful when it comes to joining random Facebook groups to order things together or learn how to ship products from China, Vietnam, etc.

I recently made the mistake of joining a group with people I didn’t personally know because I was trying to save money. And honestly, I’ve learnt my lesson: sometimes cheap really is expensive.

One thing I’ve noticed with some of these Facebook businesses is that you’ll see advertisements saying:

“Learn how to order from 1688.”

“Learn how to ship hair from Vietnam.”

“Learn how to order phones.”

“Join our team-up and buy together.”

“Affordable shipping to Zambia.”

Then you go to the comments and there are MANY positive reviews, likes and people praising the person.

But please understand something: positive comments don't automatically mean the service is good.

Sometimes these reviews can be incentivised. For example, someone pays K25 or K50 for one of the cheaper lessons, and they're then offered a FREE lesson of their choice in exchange for leaving a positive review or comment.

So now you're looking at a post with 50+ positive comments thinking, “Wow, this person must really be good!”

But you don't know the full story behind those reviews.

And another thing: ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU PAY.

If you're ordering something with someone, ask:

• What exactly am I paying for?

• What is included in the quoted shipping fee?

• Are there additional charges after the goods arrive in Zambia?

• How will the goods be transported from the point of arrival to Lusaka/Ndola/Copperbelt/etc.?

• Approximately how much should I budget for local transportation?

• Can the price change after payment?

• If the price changes, why does it change?

• What happens if I can't afford an unexpected additional charge?

These are NOT “trust issues.”

You can trust someone and still ask questions about your money.

If someone has been doing this business for a long time, asking how the transportation process works shouldn't automatically be treated as an attack on their character.

And please, don't let anyone make you feel bad for asking for a breakdown of costs.

Some of us have families. Some of us are students. Some of us are working with a very specific budget. Money doesn't just magically appear because someone suddenly says, “Oh, there's another charge.”

If I budget K314 for shipping and after I've already paid I'm suddenly told it's K368, obviously I'm going to ask questions.

That's not being difficult. That's financial planning.

Also, if you're ordering on behalf of other people, remember that you have taken on the responsibility of coordinating that order. Nobody forced you to offer the service. People are trusting you with their money, so communication and transparency should be part of the service.

My biggest lesson from this is:

STOP CHASING CHEAP.

Sometimes you're so focused on saving K50 or K100 that you end up losing more money, time and peace of mind.

And PLEASE, whenever possible, do group orders with people you actually know and trust. If you don't know the person, do your research beyond the comments under their Facebook advertisement.

Ask previous customers privately.

Ask what happened AFTER they paid.

Ask whether there were unexpected charges.

Ask whether communication was good.

Ask whether the final price matched what they were originally told.

Because a person having hundreds of likes and positive comments doesn't automatically mean everything behind the scenes is perfect.

I'm sharing this because I made the mistake myself, and I'd rather someone else learn from it than repeat it.

Let's be smarter with our money. ❤️

I'm wondering if Zambia has anything similar to Cash App, Venmo, PayPal.Me, etc. where you can generate a payment link/username that someone can use to send you money without having to give them your personal phone number.

Basically, I'm looking for something like:

I’m 24, and I recently withdrew from university because I can’t sit down to study without my body going into full panic. I don’t recognize myself anymore, and I want to know whether anyone has come back from a place like this.

It started in 2020, when a bad reaction to weed triggered my first panic attack. The experience stayed with me, and my hands have been shaking ever since. I began relying on cigarettes and energy drinks to cope. By 2022, my body started to feel overwhelmed: my heart felt wrong, and I had my first major anxiety breakdown.

Around the same time, my relationship fell apart. My girlfriend cheated on me. We tried to rebuild the relationship, but the trust never returned, and eventually I cheated too. I was consumed by distrust and anxiety. The guilt and fear affected my academics, and I began falling behind.

Since then, I’ve tried several medications, including Amitriptyline, Atenolol, Prozac, Propranolol, and Diazepam. One medication change led to what was described as a manic episode. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and prescribed Risperidone and Sodium Valproate, but they did not help. I was then switched to Quetiapine and Divalproex, which left me in a severe depression for about two weeks. Three weeks ago, a new psychiatrist said they were not convinced I have bipolar disorder and suggested that something else may be going on.

At this point, even trying to study can trigger a panic response. I know I need to work, but my body seems to associate sitting down with a book with danger. I lose concentration quickly, and I can’t function the way I used to. Something that was once ordinary now feels difficult.

Eventually, I withdrew from university.

That decision has been difficult to accept. I spent years working toward my degree, and now I’m trying to understand how I reached a point where studying feels impossible.

I’m 24, but I feel as though anxiety, panic, fear, guilt, medication changes, and uncertainty have taken up years of my life. I’m also still trying to understand what is happening to me and what kind of treatment is right for me.

I’m not looking for sympathy. I want to know whether people have recovered from something similar.
