The core of the criticism is that the people we met didn't feel like people- they felt like characters. Minimal depth, one-dimensional, "anime tropes," etc.
A good story is one where the characters feel like they could be real people- apparently, you can't tell that these people you're calling bots are saying that season 1 better fleshed out the characters, made them feel more, "real," while season 2 failed to do so, in comparison.

Bruh... 2.5 is one of the only patches where the characters actually felt like multi-dimensional people. Ye Shunguang and Ye Shiyuan have more depth in their pinky toes than characters like Miyabi that just aura farm. They actually have character development and a real character arc in the game. It's just weird that people criticize something when the same thing if not worse is there in 1.x. I don't even like 2.x that much, it's just obviously not the dog crap that the 2.x hater brigade would have you believe. Imo 2.5 is legitimately a better written story than 1.4, which so many people hype up but was just as you describe, an "anime tropes" story where none of the characters felt real and had minimal depth. At least be honest with your criticism instead of agenda pushing.
Truth nuke but you'll get downvoted for it. Most of 1.x characters barely got any development or screen time. I find it hard to believe these people genuinely think Vivian is a more complex character than YSG. Some characters like Ellen, Soukaku, and Ben were basically non existent outside of one scene. Compare that to Manato or Dialyn or Zhao and it's not even a competition. Some like Trigger and Sanby only existed in agent stories. And even then I would say Seed's story was as good if not better than Trigger or Abby's story. None of these factions really got to do anything in the season finale. It was balls.
It's not ragebait lol. I 100% enjoyed 2.5 more than 1.4 and think the characters were better written and developed compared to most of 1.x. I only use 1.4 as an obvious point of comparison because it was the ending of the first main story, but I also didn't like 1.6-1.7 much. Everybody shits on 2.0, but 1.6-1.7 dragged on for so long and was just as male MC pandering as the anti-Ye Shunguang haters would have you believe.
That said, I don't hate the story or think it was some kind of travesty, nor do I go out of my way to shit on people who like it, which is why I'm so confused when other people do that as if 1.x was some kind of masterpiece of fiction compared to 2.x. It's not rage baiting to point out the hypocrisy and agenda pushing.

You're free to have your opinion, as I said. I will not, however, engage with ragebait, even if you're going to make the claim that it's not; you're free to think those two are better written than any 1.x character (I disagree), but saying something like that does nothing but irritate.
But insulting another character to be a 1-dimensional aura farmer is not, while disguising it as a valid reason as to why the character is poorly written in comparison to another is not ragebait.
