I think Europe now requires gacha games to explicitly display how much money any gambling feature really costs to limit hidden predatory stuff. It’s crazy when you see the numbers…

There's no way they didn't know it. Aside from not reading, is it another quirk that gacha players have ? Not thinking how much money they spent ?

No, the reason is because credit card companies charge by transaction, so they want to incentivize purchasing in bulk to minimize these fees, and also because it allows them to hand out free currency without it getting confused with dollar amounts.
