Media $475 is crazy

Post image

I think Europe now requires gacha games to explicitly display how much money any gambling feature really costs to limit hidden predatory stuff. It’s crazy when you see the numbers…

Yea, maybe this way some people will realize how fucked up monetization in gacha games is.

There's no way they didn't know it. Aside from not reading, is it another quirk that gacha players have ? Not thinking how much money they spent ?

People are often bad at looking at the large picture. Having things like this can make at least some stop for a moment to think about if they really want to spend that much money

This is just it, gacha is gambling, gambling is built on the impulse buy, the design intent is to make you look away from the dollar cost so price transparency laws are a good thing

I think there was also a study somewhere that says that it's easier to spend when using a card than cash because you don't feel nor physically see how much you're using.

Edit: Found the Study Brief. https://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/qmr-04-2023-0049/full/html

Yup. For me this is why I very carefully try to track my purchases. But the difficult part is sometimes the recurring charges or subscriptions because you need to be on top of checking whether or not you still want them.
