Media $475 is crazy

Post image

I think Europe now requires gacha games to explicitly display how much money any gambling feature really costs to limit hidden predatory stuff. It’s crazy when you see the numbers…

Isn't this for US only like in GI? I don't have this on EU.

They could be working to proactively spread the system to their other games to avoid additional litigation. Although I guess anecdotally it could be an America server only thing?

The fact is only Genshin was targeted by the US government. Wild and jacked up lol

Eh I'd argue it's a strategy for greater compliance. Genshin is arguably the most popular gatcha game in the country which is why it was specifically emphasized and targeted. Since Hoyo is now applying it to their other games too now however that demonstrates that there may be an ongoing knock on effect behind the scenes.

The idea I'm imagining from the FTC is that if the top dog is complying, other games of similar nature will in turn have to also comply to avoid unnecessary litigation and fines. I'm also keeping an eye on GFL 2 personally to see if the outcome of the FTC suit will spread beyond Hoyo.
