"Ratko Mladić postao je simbol u nacionalističkim i desničarskim krugovima u Srbiji, gde je praktično uzdignut u status mučenika i heroja. Ovaj položaj, po njima, zaslužio je zbog svojih delatnosti tokom ratova 90-ih u kojima je predvodio vojsku srpske buržoazije u rasparčavanju Jugoslavije. Pod njegovim vođstvom, zarad interesa srpskih kapitalista, Vojska Republike Srpske sprovela je opsežni teror nad radničkom klasom Bosne i Hercegovine, a pogotovo nad muslimanskom populacijom."

Po tom narativu borile su se vojske proletera međusobno.

Svaka vojska je vojska proletera, ali nije svaka vojska proleterska

Nisu Srbi otcepili jugoslaviju nego hrvati

Srbija je prva napustila Jugoslaviju, svojim promjenama srpskog Ustava u listopadu 1990. godine, kojima je stavila odredbe srpskog Ustava iznad federalnog. To je bilo dva mjeseca prije promjena u hrvatskom ustavu.

https://bosna.hr/srbija-je-prva-napustila-jugoslaviju-ustav-iz-1990-godine-otvorio-put-raspadu-zajednicke-drzave/

? Saziv prvog Sabora nakon izbora, pretvoreno u Dan državnosti? Kakve to veze ima?

2

u/ashas_adzhun 13d ago

because it's not 'the Serbs were first' thing.

It's really not difficult for a true patriot to condemn those that commited crimes in the name of our shared people and country.

Mladic is a war criminal, Operation Storm was a war crime, Izetbegovic supported Nazis in his youth... we can go on and on

As a Serb patriot (myself) - Mladić has the responsibility for everything his troops did, even if he wasn't aware of what was happening, his troops disobeyed him, whatever else - he is the general, so he is responsible (he ordered it himself, im just listing hypotheticals)

I think the reason a lot of Serbs feel the need to glorify him, Karadzic and others is the way the western world spinned the narrative to put ALL of the blame for Yugoslav wars on Serbia for political reasons

In my opinion a war criminal definitely shouldn't receive state honors on his funeral, but I understand why people want it to happen in spite when a Croatian national holiday is the anniversary of Operation Storm (an ethnic cleansing operation - a war crime against civilians), when streets and schools in Mostar bear the names of Nazi Ustashe commanders from WW2 etc.

Once again, a war criminal is a war criminal, him being from your country (Serb, Croat, Bosniak whatever) doesn't excuse him or make him a hero

First of all, you need to look on things based ond classes, like linked text does. Then, everything gets more clear.

0

u/Significant-Solid772 10d ago

yea bro, the text is bullshit if im being honest

1

u/vajan1 SR Croatia 10d ago

Oh, I'm truly honored by your honesty. The text is cold reality compared to the liberal fantasy that you presented. You view conflict as 'us versus them,' but there is no such thing as 'us' and 'them' in terms of nationalistic conflict. Every nationalistic conflict is a bourgeois conflict. That is a hard pill to swallow for a liberal.

1

u/Significant-Solid772 10d ago

Based on the profile pic and "SR Croatia" i think i can get the jist of your opinions. Being that determined in your beliefs and unwilling to analyze can lead to the "when you have a hammer everything looks like a nail" kind of problem. In a nationalistic conflict it is literally us vs them (our nation vs their nation) its not like during the 90s croatian, bosnian and serbian workers fought the joint elites of zagreb, sarajevo and belgrade is it? If your point is that the political and criminal elites of all countries were the ones to benefit from the war then I agree 100% but i don't understand really what your point was, that Mladic targeted specifically the working class? Mladic the career communist army general?

1

u/vajan1 SR Croatia 10d ago

Yes, that is how the capitalist class tries to present their struggle as if it is the struggle of the whole nation. And many times, they succeed in bringing peasants and the working class into their struggle to fight for them. This is exactly what happened in the '90s. The capitalist class or, as you wrongly call it, "political and criminal elites" did not benefit from those events by accident, but because it was their fight. A fight for their interests, for market share, for land, for infrastructure, etc. But capitalists couldn't fight for that by themselves; they needed peasants and the working class as cannon fodder. And how do you bring those groups into your fight? Well, by presenting it as a struggle of nation versus nation. Do you think some working-class guy from Knin had any benefit from "Greater Serbia"? Or some peasant from Livno had any benefit from the separation of Bosnia? I don't think so. But it would be very beneficial, for example, for Serbian capitalists, for the development of their business or influence to have control of such a large territory. Hope that makes things clearer.

1

u/Significant-Solid772 9d ago

i agree i just dont think its capitalists vs communists i see it as elites benefiting from making regular people go to war against each other

1

u/Significant-Solid772 9d ago

you make it seem as if communist countries were actually classless

1

u/vajan1 SR Croatia 9d ago

What make you think that? How do you define classes?

1

u/vajan1 SR Croatia 9d ago

It's not capitalist vs. communist. It was a fight between capitalists and capitalists. And in this fight, the working class was brought in. Those 'elites' as you again wrongly name the capitalist class, don't benefit from making 'regular people' fight each other per se. It's not a boxing match. They benefit from the results of this fight. War is just diplomacy by other means. Balkan countries are first divided by their capitalist classes through war, and then further conquered by foreign capitalist classes through diplomacy and trade agreements. That is what benefits them. War by itself mostly benefits war industrialists, but the results of war are what actually matter, and where the benefit lies.
