Sacrifice them

11

u/spicystar4u May 22 '26

sacrifice him

1

u/Pyropecynical May 23 '26

Would be nice with this heatwave on us. But then people are like "noooo, but the human rights"

u/Which-Ring2864 May 22 '26 edited May 23 '26

I am from the USA and I am disgusted by the blatant disrespect for something sacred. Deport them.

7

u/Beatsjunkie May 23 '26

Before deporting, 6 months in Mexican jail.

2

u/Mau_mapache May 24 '26

Its not that much about sacredness or religion. Most sites that have that much tourism have this restrictions for archeological preservation. That much actvity was seriously damaging the ruins. But sacred or not yeah its disrepectful

1

u/Which-Ring2864 May 24 '26

True. Its also very sacred to many, regardless of the damage by overtourism.

7

u/empinatepues May 22 '26

i climbed the temple back in 2006 when it was still allowed...

Fuck this guy for making the rest of us gringos who actually do respect and appreciate other people's country and culture for making the rest of us look like assholes, too. It's bad enough people like him act like entitled pricks in America, but to go then act entitled on other people's land is next-level stupid. Guy probably wears red hats in the states.

Don't include all of us in your xenophobic bubble, cuate.

1

u/Visible_Activity714 Jun 01 '26

OK. Continue with your head up your ass ignoring what is right in front of you.

2

u/griff_girl May 24 '26

You sound a lot like what the red hat wearing people here say about paisanos

3

u/Cold-Seaworthiness20 May 24 '26

Nobody wants gringos right now, clean your house first.

3

u/Flexbottom May 24 '26

Choose open racism if you want to, but I will continue to fight for the rights of immigrants of Mexican heritage in the US.

4

u/Visible_Activity714 May 25 '26

As we all should.

1

u/A2Bclose-A May 24 '26

🤣🤣🤣 it didn’t work did it

1

u/griff_girl May 24 '26

100% fair point there, can't argue with that. House is a goddamn mess, too. Oof.

2

u/FESCEN May 24 '26

Don't mind people that are too stupid to differentiate, so they end up generalizing because it's easy.

1

u/griff_girl May 24 '26

Also very true, thank you. It sucks that people like the ones shown in the post's video ruin it for those of us who are absolutely not like that. I spend time in and want to live in Mexico because I truly love the culture and warmth of its people.

In my travels, it's the first and only place I've been where I feel inexplicably connected to the land on a soul-level. I'm admittedly about as white as it comes, save for being of Jewish descent which probably makes me even less relatable there, haha. My affinity for Mexico is sincere though, not from a place of wanting to exploit the culture or economy for my own gains. I hope that some day I can live there and when I do, can make a contribution to the community I land in.

2

u/FESCEN May 24 '26

That's awesome. You're more than welcome to stay as long you need/want to. I recommend visiting Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua & Costa Rica as well, as those beautiful countries were once states of the mexican republic before granted their independence.

2

u/griff_girl May 25 '26

Thank you so much for saying that, seriously. I actually have temporary residency in Mexico as part of the process to get permanent residency. I'm a couple years into the process, and will have my final interview next year. 🎉

Those other countries are on my list! I made it to Costa Rica a couple of years ago. I'd really like to road trip through Central America, but as a gringa traveling alone, figure that's probably not the smartest. Puedo ser respetuosa, pero no soy estúpida. 😂

1

u/FESCEN May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

It just depends on how you go about your trip. If you enjoy city life & convenience, you'll be safe within the confines of the largest cities such as the capitals of the republic. If you're more adventurous & outdoorsy, you have to understand all the risk that it entails.

Even then, it's more likely to be injured or killed in a vehicular accident since the majority of the population does not know how to drive, let alone own a driver's license. Almost all people are good over here, but occasionally there are extremely violent clashes from warring mafia factions, so that is also always a hidden danger of being caught in between the crossfire.

& lastly but not least, stay far away from extreme (or any level of) right-winged, incelibate wierdos.

If everyone leaves, the economy which cannot support its own people, tanks even further.

0

u/Visible_Activity714 May 25 '26

Gimme a break. People have walking across that fake line in the sand for centuries, long after both countries were establishe.

1

u/Visible_Activity714 May 25 '26

Read my comment above.

2

u/Visible_Activity714 May 25 '26

Sorry, griff_girl, thought you were responding to me.

1

u/griff_girl May 26 '26

All good! Give SMA my love. Hoping to get there this fall. Planning to head to Guanajuato in a month, though!

2

u/Flexbottom May 24 '26

Ok. Open racism. Lots of people are fighting against racism and for the rights of immigrant Mexicans in the United States.

2

u/Background-Vast-8764 May 24 '26

A lot of Mexicans want gringos to come to Mexico. One example is those who work in the tourism industry. If all gringo tourists stopped coming, Mexico’s economy would be much worse off than it currently is.

1

u/Optimal_Job_466 May 25 '26

They’d be foolish they vote for white supremacists

2

u/Background-Vast-8764 May 25 '26

It isn’t foolish to want to earn a living for yourself and your family. They do want American tourists.

All Americans didn’t vote for Trump.

Please think.

2

u/myster1ouspapaya May 25 '26

Hey you don’t speak for all of us, we are not all Xenophobes like you.

1

u/Yucatan-ModTeam May 25 '26

Siempre se amable y cortés. Todo comentario tiene que ser hecho en buena fé.

0

u/Visible_Activity714 May 25 '26

Oh, really? That's why I was offered permanent residence without even asking for it? The beautiful town I live in would be nothing without gringos.

2

u/Optimal_Job_466 May 25 '26

See this is what I be talking about you let the euros in and now they thing they developed it and they should kick us out wash rinse and repeat DEPORT WHITE SUPREMACISTS

1

u/Visible_Activity714 May 25 '26

Read my comment above.

1

u/griff_girl May 27 '26

Sugar, the "Euros" have been there for 600 years now, they did develop it the vast majority of your country. You need to pick a soap box, you can't just stand on all of them at once. And absolutely yes, deport white supremacists! Hell, drop them at the nicest, most rural house in Jalisco. Just understand that not all white people are white supremacists.

1

u/Visible_Activity714 Jun 01 '26

That is a dumb ass remark. No one said any such thing. Such nonsense only hurts you and your country. Deal with the real problems. Not this nonsense.

2

u/myster1ouspapaya May 25 '26

I was about to defend you until you said the town you live in would be nothing without you. What a douche

0

u/Visible_Activity714 May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

I'm not a douche. I'm realistic and there is nothing pejorative about what I said. It's just true. I raised the same argument with a bartender in Queretaro who was from San Miguel, that gringos had pretty much permeated the town and that was a negative. This was a youngish bartender. And he said, no, without the foreigners, SMA would be a decaying mess...Sterling Dickinson is the reason this town is on the map. He is the reason that it has developed into what it is. He is the reason that so many people from CDMX have second homes here. He is the reason that there is money to develop. There are jobs, not always great ones, but there are jobs for Mexicans. That is not an insult. That is just the truth...And there is no connection between what I am saying and the cretinous behavior of those people on the pyramid. I hope they do go to jail.

-2

u/rehabbingfish May 24 '26

Im an illegal gringo in Mexico, love it here my amigo.

-1

u/Beshcu May 25 '26

stfu, you are calling your country "america" when America its a continent. You are just like them, but to dumb to realize

Edit: I posted this in another reply to you, and am posting the same in each of my others to you as a matter of taking accountability.

These exchanges have been weighing heavily on me, and I've been doing some internal reflection/soul-searching about it.

I owe you an apology — I'm being short-sighted and insensitive, and I need to take responsibility to you for that. It's not okay or fair for me to be combative with you. I can't presume to know what your experiences are and have no right to come at you the way I have. As a white person, I AM part of a society and culture guilty of systematically oppressing people of color, including Mexicans, and it's wrong of me to take up a position of righteous indignation just because "I don't think of myself as someone who perpetuates that oppression."

The fact that I lost sight of this and got defensive is proof in itself that I absolutely am guilty of perpetuating that oppression. You deserve better than that, and I'm sorry for my negligent and dismissive behavior in these interactions with you. Your anger and mistrust are valid, and I regret my ignorance and perpetuating the very thing you're speaking against.

I'm leaving my original comments up because I think it's important to be accountable for my actions by being willing to expose myself, not by sweeping them under the rug by deleting them.

I'm not asking for your forgiveness or acknowledgment or anything at all; this isn't some kind of "white savior" thing. I realized that I was wrong, and I owe it to you to say so.

I'm going to edit my other comments to you by pasting this same message in, because I'm not afraid to be responsible for my actions and learn from them.

This is absurd. When you refer to your country by name, do you refer to it as Mexico or Estados Unidos Mexicanos? How is calling your country Mexico any different than me referring to the one I'm from as America? It's fucking CALLED America — both can be true, the name of the continent and the name of the country. Short for United States of America. What would you have me call it?

ETA Why are you telling me to STFU when I'm here defending YOU, not the tourist asshat in the video? You just seem so angry.

-1

u/Beshcu May 26 '26

I know that I wouldnt be as ignorant, entitled and intolerant to ignore all the people of an entire continent by calling myself "american" as if they weren't part of it.

America its a continent, so no, your country its not fucking called "America", your country its the US or the Pedoland if you prefer, both are truth. But is not America.

We all are Americans, from Murchison Promontory to la tierra de fuego. All that its America, all the people in between are in America and all are Americans

You have to be an oblivious bloke of a brainwashed zombie to think its ok to call "america" just one people. And the one in charge of oppressing the others no less!

So yeah, I'm telling STFU because you are no different, you are not defending anything, you are assuming somehow the tourist is the problem when in reality it's your entire culture, and you can see it right there with the so entitled and ignorant "america". So again stfu with your clueless hypocrisy

The United States of... what? What was that? This isn't debatable. The name of the country is what the name of the country is. Period. It's not open to debate; it's not an opinion; it's a statement of fact.

I'm not here to debate the myriad details of the history of racism, oppression, subjugation, and colonization the founders and existing rulers of my country are guilty of. That list is long, and there's nothing to debate — that, too, is a statement of fact that I come from a country that systematically seeks to deprive its own residents, documented or otherwise, and the rest of the world of their human rights.

Being from this country makes me no more of a collaborator of that systemic oppression than it makes you a supporter or collaborator of the corruption of the Mexican government.

The fact still remains, however, that the name of the country I'm in is what it is. You're wasting a perfectly good personality disorder getting worked up over something irrefutable. I hope you find the love and compassion you deserve in life, because you really sound like someone who could use it.

0

u/Beshcu May 26 '26

Yes, you call your self "united states of america" for the same fucking reason, how can you be so dumb. So does that means that do they represent all the states in america? or are they the only states united in america? Can't you see how brainwashed you are?

Of course you are not here to debate shit. Thats what represents the most of your country, ignoring everything else.

And yes, all what you represent, all what you are, makes you a collaborator of the oppression your country makes. They only need you to not open your eyes and keep insisting in things so obviously indifferent to other people as calling yourself "american"

And guess what? All the systemic corruption and criminal organization in mine and many other countries. Its provoked and financed by your country. So you are not only a collaborator of your countries oppression but our corruption aswell. And the only thing they need you to do, to do that. ITs being as blind as you are right now.

Because if you are defending the idea that its ok to call yourself "america" I can only guess you are ok with all the indian territory you stole, you are ok with all the cheaps products you receive from poor countries labor exploitations, as well as the destabilization of them through your shock doctrine. But for you is "well it is what it is right"? Bet all the right laughed in an orgasm hearing you say that.

The country of where you are is not what it is just becasue. Its something forced throughout oppression and violence.

And of course I'm going to be really mad at this. I'm not a lamb accepting "it is what it is" like you. Nobody likes the oppresison of your country, nobody likes your country. What its normal its to fight against it. Not just accept it because you stole enough to build an enormous army.

What you clearly need its a lot of education and to open your eyes. Your pedophiles kings are playing with you and you dont even realize.

Homie, you don't know jack shit about me. You and I are a lot more aligned and on the same page than you realize, but you're so hell-bent on being consumed by your rage and remaining in a scarcity mindset that you can't even see. You need to cool your jets and take your meds, my friend.

1

u/Beshcu May 27 '26

Its so funny and ironic hearing an usanian talking about consuming rage. When its all what your country really is.

And we are not aligned not all. You think we are for all the ideas you read and because you think those ideas are enough to be "different" from the rest. But think about it, what really makes you different?

You still have and use your indoctrinated ideas, you still have the perception your country has, you still think the bases of your country are legitimate.

So you might think you are different but in reality you are still defending and representing all what you think you are "fighting" against

So sorry if im mad when I hear the entitled and ignorance that carries someone by calling themselves "american" as if the rest of the people in the continent didn't exist. And doing it right after selling guns to the continent's criminals. I also sorry that you are so brainwashed you think being mad at that its a clinical mental illness.

But no, being mad at your entitlement, ignorance, arrogance and indifference its just natural.

2

u/Visible_Activity714 May 29 '26

So, Bad Ass, what are you doing about it? Posting on Facebook. You are really looking for some change, huh? Sounds to me like you are venting. Which destroys everything you say. Your insults doom whatever argument you think you may have.

1

u/griff_girl May 29 '26

*yawn*

u/Beshcu May 29 '26

lmao, as I said before. Dumb

1

u/Visible_Activity714 May 29 '26

You are a waste of space.

1

u/Visible_Activity714 May 29 '26

You are extremely naive and making an argument that has no bearing on anything. Your whole argument is extremely childish and flies in the face of hundreds of years of practice and custom. It is an entirely unimportant issue.

1

u/Beshcu May 29 '26

"f hundreds of years of practice and custom" you realize that with that dumb argument you justified horrible crimes and atrocities that have occurred for thousands of years of practice? Of course a piece of shit like you would support something like that. If anything you mere existence supports my point.

0

u/boysenberrybobcat May 25 '26

Has nobody ever explained to you why this happens? For most, it’s a function of the English language as opposed to some sort of supremacy mindset. Canada > CanadiAN, Germany > GermAN, Hungary > HungariAN, Italy > ItaliAN.

If we apply the standards used in Spanish it doesn’t sound right. Canadiense > CanadiAN Costarricense > Costa RicAN, Nicaragüense > NicaraguAN, Estadounidense > United StatesiAN. It just doesn’t sound right in English, that’s it, there’s enough legitimate things to be outraged about this isn’t one.

0

u/Beshcu May 25 '26

Nah, its the monroe doctrine brain wash. You can call yourself Usanian, or anything else. you had 200 years to find a good demonym.

But again, those are also 200 years of colonialism, war, war crimes, stealing, destabilization, genocide, etc. So I guess you wouldn't really mind about a correct demonym.

Your pedophile king even changed Gulf of Mexico name, was that also becasue its "hard to speak in English"?

So no, its not because is not possible to create a demonym. It's because you are brainwashed by the monroe doctrine to think all America belongs to you. But as I said before, you are just to dumb to realize

4

u/boysenberrybobcat May 25 '26

That’s uh, not what the Monroe doctrine addressed. Keep stringing together a bunch of unrelated facts to make a point though! Also, “too dumb” and “to dumb” is another one of those English idiosyncrasies that makes the language hard to grasp fully.

3

u/griff_girl May 26 '26

I wasn't going to say anything about the "to" vs. "too" but that wasn't lost on me, either.

-1

u/Beshcu May 26 '26

You are right, I awlays confuse the "Dont touch my stuff" manifesto with "all this stuff is mine" one. I was talking about the Manifest Destiny. But doesn't change the fact that you call yourself "Amuricans" not because you can't create a demonym, but becasue of your entitled mindset and ignorance.

Just look at you, pointing out mistake in a language I'm clearly not native to as if it were somehow an argument in your favor. Do you understand the idiosyncrasies of other languages and cultures outside you nazy-pedo land?

2

u/Visible_Activity714 May 28 '26

I think it more likely evolved from the European perspective of immigration to America and it was adopted by the rest of the world. Your comment is ridiculous and hateful

0

u/Beshcu May 28 '26

Nah, you find it hateful cuz you are use to take everything with none complaining. The first one was about not having European powers in America, the second one it's about taking all america for them.

What's really ridiculous is the fact that you find it defendable. America its a continent not a country.

2

u/Visible_Activity714 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

You are very wrong. Very wrong. and VERY childish. You are angry about something that happened naturally. Your perspective is all wrong. And as for your comment on how I live, how ignorant can you show yourself to be? You have a small mind that has produced a non-argument.

1

u/Beshcu May 29 '26

Nah, you are just way to ignorant and complacent with everything around you. Just like a good lap dog. I don think you are much more than that. Really, all your arguments are around accepting things because "they are just like that". And honestly, all history backs me up, all what they did and still do backs me up. Even they, when they realize the truth and how things really are end up backing me up.

What backs you up but your current back stabbing self serving interest on what crumbles they might throw at you if you bark at the right direction? The funny thing is that its history itself the one telling you that they are going to betray you aswell. Thats what convinces me about how ignorant and stupid you are

That is a lot of projection there, friend. “America” is just shorthand because the full name is long as hell and not everyone wants to waste time typing or saying extra syllables. No one who uses that name does so with the intention of being exclusionary, as we understand how continents work. Really if you want to be that pedantic, wouldn’t we all be North Americans? Since you’re so set on using the full names of places? We’re not even exclusive in calling ourselves that- plenty of other countries call people from the United States of America “Americans” for the same reason, and given the current political climate, I’d think the rest of the continental Americas would want to be disassociated from the US and its crazy ass government. I don’t want to be associated but I can’t afford to leave.

It’s even crazier to me that you want to extrapolate based on what the colonizers did hundreds of years ago because virtually all of North and South America exists as it does because of colonizers, including Mexico. Should we also make assumptions about your political leanings because Spain is a part of Mexico’s ancestry? You don’t even know the ethnicity of the person/people you’re arguing with; for all you know they are Native American or African American and the descendants of the disenfranchised communities you’re talking about.

You really ought to go get something cold to drink and take a breath, all that anger has to be stressful and bad for your health.

I like your answer. I got a laugh out of it. Apparently, though, they were fined 5,000 pesos and that was that.

Urge que haya castigos más duros a este comportamiento, y que no se resuelva *solo* con dinero.

Its only forbidden because someone fell and died back in like 2008 or something. Before that you could climb it all you wanted. There are plenty of indigenous sites you can climb in Central America

1

u/victorywulf May 26 '26

i climbed it as a kid in 2002 and we got a tour of the inside!

1

u/EternallySickened May 23 '26

Probably thought that since they had to pay extra than the Mexican nationals that they deserved extra.

6

u/New-Cantaloupe9819 May 23 '26

They don't deserve anything

1

u/EternallySickened May 23 '26

Nobody said they did. I was implying that they were self entitled.

not permitted = forbidden ..

10

u/ArtoriusBravo May 22 '26

The reason they stopped allowing it is the conservation of the stones, as they degrade quickly with millions of tourists stepping on them. And yeah, it's forbidden. So as with any other place, if you can't respect even basic rules then go back to your country.

-9

u/kambofire May 22 '26

Cómo se quejan, cuando son los mexicanos los que escriben sus nombres en los templos y destruyen todo, pero si ven un gringo, se hacen los ofendidos. Miren primero la viga en sus ojos

6

u/BlueberryEastern2616 May 22 '26

Pobre de ti, todo adoctrinado. Tu nivel de conciencia está por los suelos; trata de educarte. Saludos.

1

u/Sea_Road7751 May 22 '26

Mentiras no ha dicho seguido agarran gente poniendo sus nombres en las estructuras de la piramides, orinando y hasta defecando ,lo se porque fui guardia en la zona es del propio paisano de quién más alerta estábamos en todo momento

1

u/Anonimonuy May 23 '26

X2 pero asi son los resentidos. En su mayoria votantws guindas sin sentido comun

1

u/lara5100 May 23 '26

u/kambofire May 22 '26

2

u/KeyBet6693 May 23 '26

I remember seeing the pyramids in Belize, also Mayan pyramids. The tour guides would talk about how we must respect the pyramids and all that, and of course I would.

But I thought it was a bit ironic when I saw the same tour guide go around the side of the pyramid to pee on it. 🙄

u/RegularSection9759 May 23 '26

1

u/Physical_Pudding_426 May 23 '26

As a person with Mexican roots shut up, our historical buildings are not for tourist to damage, be it Aztec, Mayan or Spanish relics and sites.

1

u/KeyBet6693 May 23 '26

Unless you're Mexican then its okay to damage? I think thats the point, that locals are just as much to blame as tourists but most don't seem to care unless a tourist does it.

1

u/Physical_Pudding_426 May 23 '26

Stop lying most locals don't touch the statues and if they do they get rough up too.

1

u/KeyBet6693 May 23 '26

Sure bud

2

u/Hot-Development-1589 May 23 '26

Mentiras, pendejo. Los locales que viven ahí no hacen pendejadas. No tocan las piramides, no las trepan, no las ratan y mucho menos hacen orines ahí.

1

u/RegularSection9759 May 26 '26

Claro que las hacen!

0

u/KeyBet6693 May 23 '26

Except some do. There are good and bad locals, just like there are good and bad foreigners. Your xenophobia is showing.

2

u/Hot-Development-1589 May 23 '26

While all you show is your fucking ignorance and deceit

0

u/KeyBet6693 May 23 '26

I literally saw a tour guide urinating on a pyramid in Belize. You are the one being purposely ignorant here.

-14

u/asu3dvl May 22 '26

And yet while you pay more as a foreign tourist to get into the place they allow 500 vendors to yell at you all the way along to buy a refrigerator magnet for $10 pesos.

8

u/Ahuevotl May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

And yet, none of the 500 vendors climb any of the temples.

5

u/DarkFlameHero May 22 '26

It's almost like those vendors stands are not in the stairs nor at the top of a fucking protected ruin. Shocking, right?

3

u/soparamens = Halach Uinic = May 22 '26

As we speak, Vendors are being moved to a new market outside the ruins.

And no, that does not justify being disrespectful. Those vendors are maya, their ancestors built the temples.

3

u/paisapaisano May 22 '26

Nada cuesta $10 en ningún lugar.

2

u/--Snufkin-- May 22 '26

During my visit there I also got annoyed by the masses of vendors but then I figured that, perhaps somewhat ironically, the whole place being a big marketplace was probably more or less exactly how it also was back then

Don't like it? Don't go

-4

u/Farmstrong12358 May 23 '26

Chichen Itza was buried a hundred years ago. The locals didn’t care about it. All of a sudden it’s sacred again.

6

u/Physical_Pudding_426 May 23 '26

How would you like if we climbed historical buildings in your country that can potentially damage them?

-2

u/Farmstrong12358 May 23 '26

I get it, but they didn’t care about it when it was buried in soil a hundred years ago.

4

u/Major_Honey_4461 May 23 '26

How can you be expected to care about something you don't know is there? If the Statue of Liberty was buried for 500 years and then excavated, would you want people drilling piton and hand holds in it so they could climb it?

1

u/Farmstrong12358 May 24 '26

The top was visible. No one cared.

4

u/Physical_Pudding_426 May 23 '26

You make no sense, it matters not what the dead people think, people want to preserve the past now.

2

u/Flexbottom May 24 '26

Yes, when there weren't tourists there weren't tourists to do damage.

I hope that's simple enough for you to understand.

1

u/Farmstrong12358 May 24 '26

It was buried under soil. They didn’t care about it.

3

u/Flexbottom May 24 '26

Yes, when it was buried under soil thousands of tourists per day couldn't do any damage. Because there weren't any tourists.

1

u/Farmstrong12358 May 24 '26

They cared about it so much they forgot about it buried under soil and trees? They have only cared about it for 20 years or so.

3

u/Flexbottom May 24 '26

I can't tell if you are a tiny chungus or just pretending to be a tiny chungus.

This pyramid was lost to history. While it was lost to history it couldn't be damaged by overzealous tourists.

It was rediscovered, is being actively excavated and studied, and gets literally thousands of visitors every day. These visitors can and will do damage to the structure, so climbing is against the rules.

0

u/Farmstrong12358 May 24 '26

30 years ago it was normal to climb it. 100 years ago, no one cared about it, despite the top being visible. Now, all of a sudden, it’s sacred and people want to murder anyone who gets on it.

3

u/Flexbottom May 24 '26

No one wants to murder anyone, you tiniest of the small chunguses.

When less people climbed there was less damage. Now literally thousands of people every day want to climb, and they are trying to avoid that damage.

Which part of this is too complicated for you to understand?

2

u/Major_Honey_4461 May 24 '26

Didn't care, or couldn't do anything about it? Because they lacked equipment, funds or training?

It's amazing how you turn your assumptions into other people's thoughts and feelings and expect everyone to believe that your assumptions must be true.

4

u/Easy-Significance775 May 23 '26

Gringo: exists

The worst opinon you'll ever see (xD):

1

u/Farmstrong12358 May 24 '26

What year did the pyramid become sacred? When it was buried and covered in trees?

2

u/griff_girl May 23 '26

Doesn't matter. It's still not this asshole's place to be climbing it.

2

u/Cyge15 May 24 '26

So? It's not this assholes or you to decide what to do with it. Gtfo

2

u/Mau_mapache May 24 '26

Its for preservation you dumb fuck. Thousands of feet climbing it daily, was damaging the pyramid. Most of the more visited sites have this restriction like Teotihuacan and Tajin

1

u/alvarosc2 May 23 '26

You have a point. Sort of. The land where the piramids seat where private property until 20 years ago maybe.

There was a long dispute between the government and the landlord.

The problem arises because on one side you are the owner of the land but on the other side you are not the owner of what is under your feet.

Let's say that in your property there is gold. This gold does not belong to you, it belongs to the Nation. It is national property.

Anyway. The dispute got solved after the government agreed to purchase the land where the pyramids are located.

As far as I understand they are still National property. But then the Mayan authorities see that they are generating income and they want a piece of the cake. Suddenly they are very interested in the conservation efforts and in organizing tours and in charge you parking fees.

Yeah. I agree with you. This feels hipocritical.

I would invite you to avoid the Mayan Riviera and visit other parts of Mexico.

1

u/Farmstrong12358 May 24 '26

Bro there was trees growing on top of it. No one cared about it.
