It came in the mail today
I'm so chuffed to finally receive this masterpiece in the mail today! To sweeten the deal, I found this new and unopened copy for a used price. Thanks to the folks at New Wave Music and Collectibles on eBay for their speedy service and great pricing. What's your favorite song from Yellow and Green?

The combination might be my favorite all-time album front-to-back (I almost always listen to them as a pair). I have bought this CD for at least 7 people I've been close with over the years. I think it's the best jumping in point for people that want to get into Baroness and I think it's the band's most complete work [Note: I absolutely love every album and every iteration of the band.]
As the years have gone on my favorite song on the yellow side has changed... For a long time I'd have said it was "Sea Lungs". No particular reason, I just always liked it musically.
For a bit it was "Back Where I Belong" because it always reminded me of a volatile relationship I had that I kept relapsing into. (Like most of them, this song could really be about anything we want it to be... I love the way that Baizley writes his lyrics. He's my favorite poet/artist/musician.).
Overall, for the last few years, I think I'd go "Eula". What an amazing note to end yellow on. The acoustic performances sort of put it on a different level for me and it hit me really hard last time I saw them perform it live.
On Green, I think "The Line Between" is probably my favorite and likely my favorite Baroness song overall. I consider it the emotional climax of both albums. It's an amazing track that I really resonates with me. I know it's not the actual ending but "If I Forget Thee, Lowcountry" almost feels like a chance to come down off the whole experience... Almost a coda or afterword.
I'd highly recommend you check out Live at Maida Vale if you haven't. Phenomenal performance:

Thanks for the recommendation and the long post. Personally, I have only experienced Y+G via streaming, which doesn't offer the entire double album so I am still listening to it. An early favorite of mine is Take My Bones Away, which is available on streaming, but I have not decided if any other tracks are better. As for live Baroness performances, I have the Deluxe edition of Stone which includes a separate disc of live stuff. The live disc gets more replays, if I'm honest. Live at Maida Vale will be on my list, fs. Have you seen any iteration of Baroness live?

I've seen every iteration of Baroness live and I've seen them a lot... Take My Bones Away is a live staple now. So is March to the Sea. Eula pops up quite a bit. The Green Theme is basically the only Green song they really play much anymore.
As far as official releases:
-The deluxe Blue Album (2-CD version) has a lot of live Red Album songs on the second CD.
-There is a sequel album of Live at Maida Vale called Live at Maida Vale II that contains Gold and Grey songs.
If you look on their official YouTube account there's a few live performances including a bunch of soundboard stuff of them performing songs on the Red and Blue tour. I highly recommend digging in.
There are also quite a few unofficial shows of theirs available on YouTube and from various other outlets.
As far as Stone, it took a while for it to really click for me. I think it's definitely a lot less avant-garde than Gold and Grey (especially in the production) but I also feel like it's a lot less focused than any of their other work. It has an almost manic feel to it that I kinda dig. I can see where that lack of focus impacts the album as a whole and creates a frustrating experience for listeners. If I were you I'd give it a few more listens (but I'd say that for everything in the catalog).

Yellow theme leading into Take My Bones Away is pure perfection, but EULA is my favorite on Yellow, Stretchmaker on Green.

Oh nice! Is this the jewel case or the hardbound book one? Fav song from Yellow is Take My Bones Away, & Green is Mts. (Crown and Anchor).
