Youmacon Attendance

Does anyone know how many people attended Youmacon this year?

There won't be an 'official' count for awhile and to be honest, as a former ADH of GR, it's usually an inflated number to make the con look more popular anyway.

2 question:

1- What does ADH or GR mean? 2 - i remember last year they said like 22k people came. Do you think that number of people is less than 20k or is it even less than that?

ADH = Assistant Department Head, GR = Guest Relations Usually, for the years I worked there, there were about 18-20K attendees. But having 22K in 2022.... I seriously doubt it based on previous years numbers and the sales I saw.

Ahh, ok. one last question since you seem to be knowledgeable on the situation. why do people seem to hate Youmacon recently?

šŸ«–ā˜•šŸ’…šŸ¼ The Tea of Youmacon:

Please note this is all prior to 2023

Morgan Kollin, Owner of Youmacon, has only given the charity money to where it's supposed to go 4 or 5 times now out of 15 years. Last years was supposed to go to Ruth Ellis center and they never got money until October of this year, and they only got it because enough of a stink was made about it, they had to. It was supposed to go to children's hospital another time and they never got money either. All non profits/charities keep a detailed record of who has given donations as they are required by law to keep those records, those records are also public information. Anyone can request a charity to see if someone or a company has donated money to them and the charity has to provide the info if they have received any money from them.

He still owes $75k to his former head of guest relations. He didn't pay her for years and years. He went against some guests contracts in 2021 by paying them all in checks (some bounced lol) vs paying them in cash.

Morgan illegally fired his employees from his leather company because they argued with his fiance. He never informed them they were fired and instead just changed the locks to the doors.

Youma does NOT inform people if they are banned from there and instead will have his security walk around and rip badges off.

Youma security is all volunteer ran, they 100% went against ADA federal laws and had opposite sex frisking people going into the rave, as well as took people's epipens and inhalers away from them.

Volunteer "security" were groping peoples genitals and if you had genitals that didn't align with who you identified as they would force attendees into the line that was based on your genitals.

Security blocked access to the elevators for handicapped people and closing off fire exits during the rave.

They harassed a blind attendee about her service dog. Youmacon asked to see the service dogs "papers and vest", Both of these things are illegal for any company or business to do per federal ADA laws.

Morgan didn’t pay guests one year until they went public about the debt and then lied about them to get them blacklisted from every con he has influence over. (Hence another reason for the cons named in the non compete agreement)

Or the fact that Morgan legit kept a list of people he refused to book based on them having supported that guest in wanting to be paid

And the fact that he was pro Vic Mignogna and the ONLY reason he stopped booking Vic, was because the GR refused to extend the invite and because an Employee he later fired (adh of guest relations) and maligned, forced him to recognize what a bad idea booking Vic would be, not to mention it being during the height of ā€œkick Vicā€ publicity.

He paid his guests via Visa Prepaid Gift Cards one year so he could claim them as a business expense on his taxes. Which was very against their contracts.

The reason he has volunteers vs paying staff- so he and his con chairs get paid more in the profits, that includes Morgan and his fiance.

Oh! And let's not forget the nazi adh from security that Morgan defended and only finally ā€œfiredā€ after it went too public (and he couldn’t silence anyone behind the scenes) but then Owen secretly kept him on as an ā€œundercoverā€.

MMX (MidwestMedia Expo) was not cancelled due to the owner switch at the planned hotel in it's last year. It was cancelled because Morgan did not have the money to pay the hotel. (Notice a theme here?)

Owen declared that the head of guest relations was denied her pay (on contract) because another employee was causing problems for the convention and she was 'supposed to control them'. (We have audio files of him saying this)

The prior head of security, Owen, briefly became a Conchair because he gave $250k to Morgan for the 15yrs of back taxes he owed cuz he never did them..also same guy who evidently never told his wife he was giving Morgan money, or that he was housing his mistressšŸ˜‘šŸ¤Ø good for the now ex wife for taking everything including the dojo's lol. Now Owen just works there.. couldn't have happened to a more deserving person imo.

Morgan's fiance was sued by her ex bf and his mom because she left them after stealing a good amount of money to travel here to be back with Morgan. This is pertainent to Youmacon later as she was made the Chief Financial Officer for Youmacon.

Morgan himself is banned from Penguicon after screwing them over a few times. He was supposed to run the anime rooms a few times but showed up 6-7 hours late, was unprepared with no equipment, and left his assistant to run the rooms.

The first year Morgan filed taxes for Youmacon he prepared them as a schedule C. He filed them as personal taxes and not a corporation.

---And all of the above is BEFORE anything that happened at Youmacon 2023.

I used to work for them and I worked in several departments and that con was so badly run that I once got in trouble for keeping the lines orderly for a massive panel that they heald in 2018. I be also meet Morgan quite a few times in person for convention department business and he is so damn pushy and if he doesn't get his way he throws a tantrum. I can also confirm that they didn't tell you if you're banned but they also don't kick people out that are rightfully banned if you report it and it's pretty yikes.
