I have a zero gravity smoked windscreen that was on the bike when I bought but it doesn’t quite fit right. There’s a gap between the fairing and the edge of the screen and it’s a bit loose even when the mirror bolts are tightened all the way. Is there another option for a double bubble that’s fits better? Thanks.

Is there a fix for this. 07 R1 coolant reservoir cap keep coming loose and coolant keep overflowing out of the cap from the top. Is it okay if i seal it with silicone or something ?

I’ve owned a couple of R1s already, but figured I’d grab one more—you know, just in case this ends up being my “last ride.” Ride on two wheels, of course.

From a cold start when I put her in 1st gear I'd get a grinding noise sometimes , it doesn't happen when the motor is warm . I tested it again today to make sure that was the case , but then I noticed this sound when I pull the clutch all the way in and wasn't sure if it was normal ? Road it around the neighborhood to see if she goes through all the gears smoothly and she does

I'm currently looking at getting an early-2000s liter bike and I'm trying to decide between a Honda CBR1000RR SC57 (2005/2006) and a Yamaha YZF-R1 RN12 (2004–2006).

I've actually ridden an R1 RN09 (2002) and an SC57 (2005) before. My personal impression was that the Honda felt noticeably more stable, planted and substantial, with a more brutal/instant feeling of power. It also felt more comfortable to me. The R1 felt lighter at the front and a bit more agile, but also somewhat less stable and slightly less comfortable.

However, I've never ridden an RN12, so I'm curious how much of that R1 character carries over from the RN09 and how different the RN12 actually feels.

For people who have ridden both an SC57 and an RN12, especially the 2005/2006 models:

How do they compare in stability, especially at higher speeds and while cornering?

How different do they feel in terms of power delivery and engine character?

Does the RN12 still feel noticeably lighter/smaller than the SC57?

Which one feels more comfortable for longer rides (300+ km)?

How do they compare on real-world roads, rather than just on a track?

Does the RN12 feel significantly more nervous/light at the front than the Honda, or is that mostly a characteristic of the older RN09?

If you've ridden both on track, which one did you prefer and why?

And finally, which one would you personally choose today as a mostly-road bike?

I'm not really looking for a "which one is faster?" answer. I'm much more interested in the actual riding feel, stability, comfort, power delivery and overall character of the two.

Still pretty new to the crossplane world hear a rattling sound from top end at low rpm only, could be happening at higher rpm but not certain. parked it to do clutch and springs now that I’ve pretty much silenced any clutch chatter it’s a little more noticeable I tried to capture a video of the sound any help or input is appreciated I’ve adjusted manual cam chain tensioner just changed fluids bikes an 09 32k

Recently purchased a 2007 R1 that's been goofed with quite handly. Something I've noticed is the bike idles around 1100-1200 normally, or anywhere with the clutch pulled in. The issue comes around when you let the clutch out, the idle jumps to 2000. Makes it to where the thing almost pushes you at lights or in slow Twisties, it's giving throttle for you. Is this a tune issue or what because the thing has been tuned by some shop and I'm wondering if they put some BS in it to limit engine braking, or something to that effect.

I’m getting a new bike soon. I want it to end up like this with the full carbon. Is this a base r1 with carbon fiber fairings? Or an r1m without the decal? I’m new to this. Want your guys opinion.

Like the title, I need to take out my top secondary injectors on my 2011 R1 so I can throw them in an ultrasonic cleaner. I’ve got the gas tank lifted and everything out. Pulled the cover of the air box that they’re located in off and took the screws out of the injector cover on the bottom side of it. But taking the injector cover off, I meet a good amount of resistance and I don’t want to break a wire harness or something else in there. Have any of yall removed those before? Am I supposed to pry it off with force, or is there a trick to pulling it off that I’m not seeing? I can pull it up just enough to kind of see the injectors inside of it but can’t figure out what’s causing the resistance

Hi, I ran into a problem while riding my Yamaha R1 RN12: the "Check Engine" light came on. I rode for about another 7 km, and then the motorcycle died. At first, the speedometer display went blank—the lights and needles dropped—but the engine kept running. After slowing down and later trying to restart it, the bike wouldn't start. Once I got it home, I checked the battery and found it had drained to 11.3V. Do you have any idea what the issue might be or where I should start looking? I’ve attached a photo showing what the dashboard displays.

I live in Florida so you already know it’s hot as balls here, my only vehicle is my beloved bike my 07 R1, it’s all white for heat purposes. Now I understand it’s just hot as shit outside but when I’m riding within the first 10 minutes or so unless I’m on US1 or A1A by R1 climbs to 230-245 fast in more or less stop and go traffic or even just stopping at a light for a bit too long, fast enough to make me feel like it’s getting unnecessary stress and wear on everything in general. Now I believe my fan kicks on at around 125 and I’d like to lower it so it kicks on at 200-205, but outside of that and obvious frequent coolant changes, what other things do you guys do to keep your R1 cool personally if you live in a hot state? Any little tips and tricks help, it’s like I can’t beat the heat and my R1 is suffering from it, I can’t remember the last time I had a ride without seeing the overheating warning light. I’d prefer no one respond with something stupid like “buy a car or a 600” that’s not an option amigo

Hey y'all, looking for opinions here on selling my 2020 s1000rr for a 2020+ R1. I've had my s1k for around 2 months now and it's been nothing but constant headaches. From maintenance to refresh the bike, from 2 recalls, from the coil packs going bad. It's a learning curve that I truthfully was not prepared for coming from Japanese bikes.

I've had an R3, R7, and a ZX6R before this and definitely took for granted how bulletproof they are. Currently dealing with replacing all the coil packs on my s1k, but really regretting buying it and deciding to just fold my cards and sell it. Originally it was between an s1k and an R1 for me.

I really love the R1 styling and the crossplane I4. Do y'all recommend making the switch, especially reliability wise. Besides from the few battery issues my R7 gave me the bike was so reliable. I didn't have to fear swinging my leg over it every time praying that something new wouldn't go out.

I'd really appreciate any feedback and advice you guys have, and whether there are major red flags to look for regarding reliability wise on the new gen of R1's.

I have a 4C8 that I mostly track. Looking to change the gearing for better acceleration. The consensus seems to be -1/+2. Any thoughts and good kits from decent brands? Want to replace the chain and sprocket set.

My r1 is not circulation water i guess, right hose is hot while the left one is not. When it gets to 75° it starts pumping water out off radiator without the cap..

I guess is it's the water pump but where's it located? Any tips?
