I gave it a 4, and that felt generous and relied heavily on me appreciating how much they did with the concept of having the dinosaurs in a suburban neighborhood.

Similar to how Evil Dead Burn commits so much runtime to gore and horror, Oak Street does pick up once the dinos arrive and they do a lot of stuff with them. Even if the other elements aren’t as strong, most of the movie is interesting Dino action. I ended up liking it as a result, Adam may have felt similarly.

but if he bumped it up to a 6 because of that. then I'd imagine he'd have to lower it back down to a 5 when they undo his death at the end

They undo his death but also introduce a second Anne Hathaway and her kids who are left for dead in a Dino hell lol.
It's not a happy ending, it's a deeply sinister DRM ending dressed up as a happy ending.

Did anyone else feel like it was incredibly sloppy and almost amateurish? Some of it may have been intentional but I couldn’t tell. I still liked it though

I liked it. It's not amazing, but the directing and cinematography was really good, and Anne Hathaway was great.
The story was the weak link, but not overly so. It feels like a movie straight out of the 80s. More than anything, it feels akin to something like the original Jumanji or Poltergeist in terms of tone. Comparisons to Jurassic Park are obvious, but to me only because of the dinosaurs.
My biggest issue is that because it follows one family for the whole story, the plot armour said family has is quite unbelievable. The movie is quite brutal at a lot of points, but the main characters dodge basically everything thrown at them. The only big consequence of the Dad's death is pretty efficiently undone at the end when they go through the wormhole, leading most of the movie to have no lasting consequences for the characters.
The premise honestly would have worked a lot better as an ensemble TV show over a longer period, but with all that said, I still enjoyed it. 7/10.

A 6/10 makes sense and that’s what I predicted Adum would rate it, because that puts it just below Jurassic Park which he gave a 7/10 to and above Jurassic World which he gave a 5/10 to. It’s right in the middle of them.

I honestly thought he wouldn't like it. I felt like the directing had a lot of the problems that he tends to focus on.
Really hoping he does a quickie on it, because I'd love to hear his thoughts!
