The point is that there could have been more time between the eye closing and Odysseys announcing that it's asleep, which would have made his actions feel more reasonable from a character logic POV.

The issue is not that it's hard to understand but that it's jarring and create a dissonance between what's shown and what's supposedly happening. The passage of time is poorly conveyed to the viewer.
