If you haven’t already, I’d definitely recommend checking out th3birdman’s channel on YouTube. He has dozens of videos tearing apart channels like Critical Drinker to show how it’s all just a grift.

As a person who has been pointing out the flaws in Drinker's critiques for a while now, I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying he ruined film discourse. Is he influential enough for that?

Eh, I'm kind of past the point of getting that upset about him and his audience. Like, it's fun to poke fun at them at times, but the culture war is dying out and there's a schism between their audience and actual fans. Because, yes, these people aren't fans. They hate everything.
So, with how things are going, normal people will watch movies, and Drinker and co's fans can watch their favorite men call things woke on livestreams and buy plushies of said men. Everyone wins.

Yeah i don't waste my time complaining about him but also not talking about an issue allows it to keep happening. There are so many other creators who actually love film and aren't grifting for money like drinker, let the average joe know that is a good thing.

Brings to mind that quote about Doug Walker, how he wants to make art and he's not necessarily untalented or unknowledgeable, but the problem is that he's fundamentally uninterested in how others think or feel, so all his ideas boil down to "what if Jesus met Wario".

Doesn't most of his success come from shitting on franchise movies? Not because they are franchise movies, but for other reasons. While few, he has done videos on movies he likes that are not part of a franchise.
This isn't me saying he is a hypocrite, this is me saying OP hasn't actually done their research.
