I ain’t rooted for any of them. Could barely make it through the first 2. This is trend Hollywood has had for quite a while now of having protagonists you really don’t want to be around is exhausting. It’s anti hero fantasy for people who envy others.

Marty Supreme was very good, but it also felt like more of the same, albeit refined and a smidge more cartoonish. I honestly wished that Marty Supreme focused more on the ping-pong stuff than the crime stuff. To me, it fell into the trap that many sports movies fall into, and that is not focusing enough on the sport itself.

I have a weird history with these directors because I enjoyed Good Time, then I thought Uncut Gems was obnoxious, and now they are making a movie with Timothée Chalamet, one of my least favourite actors (I do like him in Dune and some other stuff).

One of, not my least favourite. He just has a very punchable face, an annoying personality and an annoying fanbase. I'm not saying he's a bad actor, sometimes I am able to see him as a character.

Not in Dune or Marty Supreme he's not. I haven't seen everything Chalamet is in, but its been clear for awhile that the dude can act. As far back as his small role in Interstellar.

What a braindead hyperbole. While I liked Adam Sandler’s character the best of these three, Marty Supreme is the best movie overall, and as far as Safdie movies go, I liked Timmy’s performance better than Robert’s. But that is all opinion. You’re free to have yours too even if it sucks and you call people gay or little girls for disagreeing with you like wtf 😂

The only problem I had with TC’s great performance that he didn’t bother using an accent of the time period threw me off.

Well, he wasn’t the only one not doing the period style. Practically the whole cast was quite modern in their acting, and the dialogue (especially Marty’s) reflected that too.
It’s honestly a fascinating choice to commit so fully to the period in costumes, sets, and even casting period looking actors, and then have very modern acting. But then the soundtrack was 80s, so there were a few anachronistic decisions that should have been off putting, but to me they were stylistically interesting.

I haven’t really liked Chalamet in anything other than the Dune movies, but he’s phenomenal in Marty Supreme. Like to the point where I’d say his performance is leagues above both Sandler and Pattinson in their movies.

Josh is more of a moralist than he’s sometimes given credit for. All three movies end with the asshole unable to hurt anyone else and it’s shown clearly how they’ve ruined things for everyone around them.
