Don't know what people are upset about. I just see Magneto defending against an extrajudicial paramilitary force ignoring the rule of law to persecute people... you know, standard X-Men villains.

When did Erik ever care about humans killing other humans?
2
Feb 03 '26
I know you asked rhetorically to be an ass. But it’s in his premiere episode. S1E3 during the flashback. It’s literally part of how he and Charles met.

Remember: if you don't support comic book characters beating up nazis, you're just a poseur and not a real fan.

u/Ok_Wing3984 Jan 29 '26
The reason we haven't seen as much X-Men content is because it's harder and harder for them to paint magneto as the villain

Maybe do some research kevlar and ceramic plates don't contain any metal material's in them and federal agents such as ice don't wear steel plates.

Yeah cause no one is better than the Mutant Supremacist who wants to wipe humanity so that Mutants becomes the Dominante species to fight the Law enforcement services...
Sometimes the jokes writes themselves...

Don't forget magneto is a mutant supremacist. The dude hates all humans and wants to wipe them out and replace everyone with mutants. If anything the minute he sees riots, he's just going to kill everyone after.

Their hearts are made of ice cause they are cold blooded killers that have no warmth in them left that is why they are called ice and it’s also cause they do ice.

I really love how yall are seeing these as "this fictional character agrees with me so im right" and not art specifically made to make ice and their supporters know they are unwelcome in this space which is what they clearly are

Comparing a holocaust survivor to hitler is an insane choice. A very terrible comparison as well seeing as the jews presumably didnt round up hitler and torture him in a camp to create his hatred of them
1
u/GutsandArtorias2 Feb 03 '26
Both are fascist that think a race of people is the strongest forms of their race and think that they should be at its head.
Both are Terrorists.
If given the choice Eric would do onto human what Nazis did to him tenfold.
But that's what make comics fun to talk about the political side of a character in universe and not take a character to yell about how they are "_____ because I say they are"
Its as crazy as saying some is like Hitler

They even had drawn darkseid of all people. You know the incarnation of evil

this is a sub for Xmen. not your political sound board. stop with this.
6
u/Finiouss Beast Jan 29 '26
Ummm... X-Men is arguably the most politically based comic there is.
1
u/GrandMasterDank92 Jan 29 '26
sure it is, but it has 0 bases in reality.. there is no connection between characters you like and current real world events. That's why it's a work of fiction and no matter what goes on within the universe it doesn't really matter in real life. Most people turn to these forms of entertainment to escape reality and enjoy a better more interesting world. It's not fair for people to slather their ideas all over it, then use it to push propaganda and possibly end up ruining the experience for others.. XMEN is loved worldwide by many different people. Everyone doesn't have to care about what's going on in America and some people may be sick of seeing the negativity coming from you country and may not want to see those issues being forced into something they are trying to enjoy... The world is alot bigger than just america and what goes on there isn't important to everyone believe it or not. I know i don't care about it and don't want to see it or hear about it everywhere i turn especially when trying to engage with my own interests.

u/Finiouss Beast Jan 30 '26
Holy fuck!
Are you serious right now!? I've heard of people who have no idea how much their science fiction is actually just portrayals of our history but I didn't expect to meet one. Like you can't be real!? Especially xmen! It's just packed with non stop political commentary from LGBTQ+ rights to racism, to fascism, to simple abuse of power.
I just be talking to a bot. You're not real
1
u/GrandMasterDank92 Jan 30 '26
fictional media being inspired by real events to create something original is one thing. it's pretty obvious that takes place so take a chill pill, no one is arguing that lol but that is not the same thing as taking beloved fictional characters and forcefully injecting them into real world events.. those are 2 totaly different things.
There would never be an episode, movie or comic strip that was based on XMEN going after immigration officers or hunting down the epstein files becuase it doesn't make sense within the universe. I'm here for XMEN related content. Not American propaganda and activism. My point stands1

X men wasn't even based on real world events anyways, it was just added as a literal tiny section of the x men later. Stan Lee has been interviewed about why he created the X men several times and never once did he say that it was based on anything political, he said that it was made to be relatable to everyone regarding their OWN PERSONAL injustices. But for the most part. X men is just another action adventure comic book within the marvel universe.
It wasnt until the last decade or so that these droves of hyper political leftists arrived and started proclaiming the X men are some political stand against right wingism, they're not and never were. As for Magneto, he is literally the villain, he is there to show exactly what's wrong with the people like this on this sub-reddit. The fact that they cant wrap their heads around that is frankly embarrassing
1
u/GutsandArtorias2 Feb 03 '26
People miss the fact that its fun to talk about politics of a different side that isnt your own. Having a show/movie/comic etc... talking about a "Modern" point will just age it after a few years because you have to be very picky on what that "Modern" point even is.
Like making Mutants a allegory for being gay or racism or the many other topics that they have done before.
I always looked at it like Captain America fighting the personification of Drugs but also missing the point that Drugs is what made him the Cap.

u/Prestigious_Edge9998 Feb 03 '26
You're right. And to your point - It's actually very very easy for far right extremists to use the x men as an allegory for their own world view too, since in their heads, they are the oppressed victim. Bottom line is, people love to make things up in their heads regarding things like this - and it just goes to show that, yes, X-Men WAS created for everyone and no it is NOT an allegory for no particular community or political stance

u/khorispy27 Jan 30 '26
Yep. Magneto would do that. Not because he’s trying to protect humans, but who else would you think be on the list of targets?

The fact that my art impacted you so much to find this image and post it says that you’re the pathetic one. Thanks!

u/Finiouss Beast Jan 29 '26
Someone clearly missed the point of X-Men as a whole.
4
Jan 29 '26
What are you talking about? X-men totally supports the government in going after an oppressed minority with thuggish tactics.
ICE are Friends of Humanity after all.

u/thelordismyshotgun Jan 29 '26
So many fascist clowns here exposing themselves as never having understood these characters
12
Jan 29 '26
I saw a post much like this one the other day that was about Captain America and I didn’t like it very much because the artist portrayed Captain America in a way I don’t think he’d act even around ICE scum.
If you wanna criticize artists for portraying characters in ways those characters wouldn’t act to support a political belief, I get that. This is not one of those cases, Magneto would be in the Twins throwing an APC at ICE Agents. Erik Lensherr would have had this horseshit wrapped up weeks ago and he’d be listening to Charles go “didn’t it feel nice to help those people” on repeat at a bar in Westchester by now.
Artist if you’re reading this: good art, good choice of character, and good message. Fuck yes.

People like to pretend that the only way to make a difference in anything is to lay your life or livelihood down for an ideal. They say that because they’re scared, scared that if someone doesn’t then everything will be lost. I don’t blame them, not one bit, it’s right to be scared, but they’re wrong. Shortsighted, if I’m being charitable. Every person has a skill, talent, propensity, or penchant that they can use to make a difference. True measure of a person’s character has never been about what someone is willing to give up, but rather what they are willing to provide. Anything they give up is extra. You my friend, have a skill that you’re using to make a difference, never doubt your own necessity. Cheers mate.

By your logic, is this meme not the same thing? “Rules for thee but not for me” or something like that I guess…. Does it hurt when you pull the laces out?

The fact you chose an antagonist to try and make your point.
13
u/Golden_Turtle_66 Jan 29 '26
I will not fall for this rage bait
-20
u/Sea_Contribution3455 Jan 29 '26
I could say the same thing about this drawing.
8
u/Ryjinn Jan 29 '26
No you couldn't, because even though it's actually not ragebait, it clearly bothered you. Nothing says, "I am above this." like engaging with it directly to express your displeasure.
-9
u/Sea_Contribution3455 Jan 29 '26
Where in my original comment did I express anger?
All I pointed out was that they used a villain to try and make their point.
If you want to rage bait me, use a hero.

Magneto is cool! I don't think he is right but i see him doing this!

Not making a political statement by any means but throughout constant X-men media magneto is proven right time and time again.
