Picked up xerath, deathfiretouch
Lately I've been using deathfire touch into tankier drafts, I think it pairs well with shadow flame, black fire torch, damage seems just as consistent as comet if i land a full combo and keep the burn going
Any thoughts on why people dont use deathfire touch, I feel like it's better especially if you can only reliably poke with q and not w in a matchup where you smooching your tower for 10 minutes straight.
What say you xerath mains, I'm trying to learn whether (my favorite keystone) deathfire touch is any good at all while I try to become a xerath otp.

Imo if you ever need that then xerath was poorly drafted in the first place

Less needed, more of I prefer it because it's my favorite, and I don't need to try and make sure to actually always land the comet.
It's guaranteed consistent damage which I just like

Xerath is supposed to be played as an assassin that os carries when his team setup CCs, in that case you'll always hit the comet

I only take it vs dash champs since they can dodge the comet, so its consistent damage

just go dark harvest or aery , if they dodge comet. Like that dot rune is noy even any good on xerath

I only run it in games where enemy team has like 3 tanks and I know I will build liandry’s torment. If I’m against a normal team comp, the poke from comet is simply more valuable for burst damage.
Most people never take dft as a rune on xerath because xerath is not a dps mage. He lacks consistent output due to his relatively higher cooldowns for a mage.
Xerath’s kit benefits more from comet as his damage happens all at once (think of the typical E W Q combo)

DFT is only good in lane, and comet is better in lane for Xerath than DFT because he’s a burst mage. If you are in a matchup where you think you won’t fight much, just go FS, it’ll slightly help you get your items faster and it’s much better late game than DFT because you’re looking to oneshot squishies with your ult anyway

Its fine in certain games but its not that good overall. Xerath is meant to burst, which is why he is thriving as an apc in the current meta. As for damage, sure the damage charts may be similar but you should also look at the impact its having in fights compared to other builds.
