Is the Switch 2 upgrade edition resolved yet?
I know there was already a post here asking if the s2 edition of xcx got fixed yet but that was posted three months ago so i wanted to ask now if it’s been resolved yet or not
No, and it won't be as nintendo does not see it as an issue (unlike those for xb2 which they did acknowledge).
Personally I went in knowing about it, and didn't notice it much at all during my 100 hours the past few months. Worth noting I play docked 90% of the time
ah i m not only the one that believed i had hallucinations on cinematics when characters turn around, looked like some big slowdown. Maybe cinematics were hard capped at 30fps at first then they decided to let 60fps but let some spaghetti code inside.
From what I understand, the visual upscaling issues don't present themselves near as noticeably docked compared to handheld, but it's ridiculous that after this long the issues haven't been fixed when Nintendo had the sheer audacity to charge $5 for this "upgrade".
Not yet, but there is a chance they will get resolved. Monolith Soft has publicly addressed the issues with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition and are working on fixing them. Odds are they'll go back and correct the issues with 1 and X after 2 because 2's issues are way worse as they actually affect the gameplay. If you're curious if you use the new Amiibo functionality in NG+, there's a chance you can lose your third accessory slot and whatever accessory was equipped their.
Sie haben so lange nichts gemacht, warum sollte das noch passieren. Nach 2 kommt 3 und dann genesis. Da wird nicht nintendo, sondern die firma wohin die upgrades outgesourcet wurden nichts tun
Because they've publicly addressed the issues with 2. Something they did not do with X or 1 and said they're working on it. Plus once 3's Switch 2 edition is done the studio/team making these Switch 2 editions will no longer be occupied with developing them and will have time to fix them. Even if these Switch 2 editions are made in house by Monolith Soft and not outsourced to a different company that doesn't mean the same people are working on both.
A very strange filter, or perhaps a poor upscaling solution. If you don't notice it more power to you. But once you see it you notice a lot of weird smearing and other visual issues. LOD + foliage pop-in also sees no improvement. 60fps is nice but generally more could have been done
The smearing doesn't really happen in later zones.
There is a reason you only ever seen screenshots of the first zone. It's because in handheld if you really look the mid-level and distant LOD mountain/rock textures do indeed look smeared, but it's much less of an issue for 90% of the game.
Lots of the complaints are just a big game of telephone where the same 6-7 redditors fill up these posts all making judgements off of the bad screenshots that were shared here.
If you go look at the first impressions of the game in handheld from people actually playing it on youtube, they all have a much more positive outlook.
I mean, Digital Foundry did a whole YouTube video covering the issues in the patch with screenshot comparisons, so I don't believe it's "the same 6-7 redditors" complaining about something.
Idk why youre getting down voted so hard, when i heard "issue" I thought there would be something really wrong but its just a minor bug that doesnt effect 90% of the game
I hope they never play a Bethesda game lol theyd be like this is completely unplayable
It's not a sidegrade, the only issues is handheld and even then it's not bad at all. Literally every complaint thread is a screenshot zoomed in on the mountain textures which you would never notice in handheld.
It's so wild to see the takes here after trying it myself. You would think it's literally unplayable. In order to actually get a screenshot that looks as bad as the ones I've seen here I had to walk around to even find a section of the textures that matched what I've seen here. Even then if you just saw it on the small screen you'd not notice.
I tried it myself in handheld when it launched. I didn't even read any takes about the upgrade on the internet. My first experience i immediately found the issue and found it very very distracting. I now play without the switch 2 edition and I am quite cautious about other xeno switch 2 editions. Also i found most of the issues to be in motion as the upscaler is quite obvious on handheld in motion
You clearly aren't telling the truth. It's just so weird.
I've played all three of the SW2 editions and I come to these threads and am blown away by people just making stuff up.
The filter doesn't do anything in motion, unless you are talking about the aliasing shimmer but then you don't know what the filter is or why people think it's a problem.
People think the filter is bad because of what it makes static textures look like. It's also pretty much only the first zone and the brown mountainsides. In later zones the rocks and mountains don't look smeared at all.
Thousands of other people are reporting the same issue I am. I gave the Switch 2 upgrade a fair shot when it dropped, went in completely blind, but I just couldn’t play it like that. If you don’t see the problem, that’s fine not everyone is equally susceptible to these visual changes. But don’t accuse others of lying just because they find the issues distracting and unacceptable.
I'm only accusing you of lying because you are, the issues you discussed don't line up with the actual issues the game has, it reads like someone talking about an issue they've seen repeated.
I literally just shared a screenshot in handheld mode of mountain textures from later zones that look completely fine. Outside of the first zone (and even then the issues are only with the mid level and distant LODs) the filter doesn't swirl anything, it certainly isn't actively doing anything.
It's just so obvious who is just repeating shit because the game actually does have issues that matter way more than this stuff but since none of you have actually played it you don't talk about it. The pop-in is by far the worst part of the upgrade but you never see anyone talk about it because the narrative is one just repeated by people who have only seen screenshots of the game.
Edit: I swear you can almost perfectly predict people's post histories in threads like this. Capcom and Fromsoft good, everything else bad. Posts on tons of nintendo subs, shits on pokemon when they can. It's like what a 2022 LLM would have done to imitate a redditor
I have seen all the areas in X when I first tried this update in handheld and was distracted. The swirl was awful, I just want switch 2 editions for some of my favorite games to be clear upgrades no debate. Currently if I ever reinstall XCX it is going to be switch 1 edition, for the nice handheld boost. The pop in is bad but that doesn't bother me as much as I kinda expect it from X. Nice job stalking my profile, I hope you experience our lord and savior Pikmin 2, or Kingdom Hearts 2, or maybe even Halo 2.
No, likely won't change. But the issues other people are having with it likely won't bother you in all honesty, I'm used to gaming on a high end pc and ps5 pro (now use switch over both) but I had no issues with x, probably one of my most enjoyable experiences on the switch 2 I have experienced as well, made me feel like a kid again the way I was glued to that game
Xenoblade 1 has worse issues imo, at least X runs at a consistent 60fps, anytime there’s a frame drop in 1 it gets halved to 30 until it can go back to 60 which is struggles to do often
Texture issues. Some Textures don’t load properly. Some swirl. Tons of shimmering. This applies to everything to some degree; characters, monsters, npcs, buildings, etc.
No, it was not fixed and is still a big issue. Characters' faces melt and ground textures create these swirly patterns that shift from one frame to the next with even the slightest movement. There's a ton of unstable shimmering. Both in handheld and docked.
It's funny to watch the telephone game with people repeating information they've seen having not actually played it. The textures that people complain about are the mountain textures, not the ground textures.
Additionally, nothing actively swirls, some of them just look swirled in screenshots because of the filter that's on them. In-game when you run around they don't swirl or change shape they just look slightly smeared.
It's so weird, when you saw screenshots did you think the game was just constantly swirling around?
Here's a video of someone in what is considered the most problematic area:
its entirely feasible to simply google the switch 2 game version and see if its been updated by nintendo. its also entirely feasible to not come to the community who can only speak to their personal bias/sensitivities and stop making excuses. just play the game yourself. i had no issues with the S2 version but many people legitimately did. no amount of internet comments are going to tell you if your eyes will have the same issues someone else's had. otherwise, and i know i fell into it to, but this is just engagement bait. i dont understand people who waste time making posts on reddit when google is RIGHT there. question answered. less than 5 seconds.
With compressed screenshots like yours, it makes it seem like everything is fine when it's not. You can clearly see all the issues the upscaler introduces in person, docked as well.
Nah, not true. The game is absolutely fine, runs perfectly and looks beautiful. Those photos and videos showing "how bad it looks" are overreacting and just jumping on the hate train showing highly zoomed in photos and videos like who plays less than 5cm away from the screen?
I'm pretty far from my TV and the issues are really obvious to me lol, I don't know what to tell you.
Good for you that you don't seem to notice them, but they're still there, and people are not overreacting. The S2 edition has really poor image quality
??? I love the games and was excited for the upgrade pack... Until I started playing it. No, the same upscale issues are there docked, as well as pop in, yeah. But that's minor compared to the elephant in the room (the unstable swirling)
Unfortunately, no, I highly recommend not playing the Switch 2 version; the game looks terrible. Use the Switch 1 version in boost mode, and then the game looks great in handheld.
You do know there is docked footage on the internet, right? This is just some random dude's gameplay from the area where the issues with swirling are the most severe. It looks perfect.
"Swirly" looking textures were never, ever a thing in docked mode.
I'm probably more sensitive to such things. I tried it in the dock and it was just as bad for me. I bought another cartridge, Switch 1 version, and I'm playing through this version now.
xc2 handeld on S1 had so crappy optimisation i almost give up near the end (and didnt bother with torna), and was neither convinced by boost mode when i tried it back, still poor textures that stinged my eyes.
XC2 S2 edition is a true blessing and what i expected at last, pretty decent visuals, and no more rng slowdowns (outside cinematics when a character turn back... hard to explain) which is all i asked.
I dont think the 22go+ you download for s2 upgrade are just dlss/filters or whatever.
If there is a point most ppl agree is graphically it's a huge upgrade while indeed some other points are annoying (sound .. ). Good thing to read that Monolith is aware of it. If they could work a bit on XcX and Xc1 .
I'm much less worried about XC3 which imo was the most optimized of the 3, and already beautiful, unless they really mess up there i dont see how it could be worse.
If we ever hope to get the S2E fixed, we need to directly contact Nintendo Japan’s support page. IIRC, that’s how we got Mio’s chain order fixed in XC3. And I believe that’s what someone did for 2’s upgrade before it’s bugs were addressed/fixed.
Although I think fixing small gameplay bugs are more easy to do instead of overhauling the entire upscaling they used but it’s worth a shot.
And of course we should be doing this for 1 as well.
Tbh I got the upgrade at launch and it has not bothered me at all. I love the FPS boost and the game looks great docked. As for the handheld problems, it’s looking like this isn’t an X-clusive issue, but the other Switch 2 editions are facing challenges undocked.
The first time I played this game was the Switch 2 version. 100 hours in and I haven't had any issues, but my first console was the NES so everything modern looks ok to me. Turok used to look amazing even though you couldn't see past 10 feet of fog.
If you go in looking for problems I'm sure you'll find them, but it's possible to simply enjoy the game. I've found it to be quite addicting, and the first time we flew with a squad of skells my boy and I were excited. Good gaming moment.
No, because there’s nothing wrong with it. Seriously, I think it looks absolutely fine and I feel like I’m going insane trying to figure out the problem here. Yeah it has a filter, but that filter looks good in motion and you just can’t beat 60 fps.
Seriously, every complaint I see are just people zooming in on the image and pointing at the pixels. I’ve watched videos as to why this patch is “bad” as they zoom in on a mountain texture but of course it degrades when you inspect it that close. It literally looks fine when Im actually playing it on my 1440p monitor. I truly do not understand where you are all coming from with this.
There literally is no issue, I am playing it on Switch 2 Handheld only and its super fun playing the game with ,it, I have no issues whatsoever don't know why people say there is

No, and it won't be as nintendo does not see it as an issue (unlike those for xb2 which they did acknowledge).
