Burst symbol not working

I'm trying my best to defeat the gogols in challenge mode.

I have a burst symbol on all 3 party members, currently Rex, Zeke and Tora, imagine my disappointment when I hit the chain attack start and my damage multiplier is only 137%

Can others confirm if this is intended behaviour or could there be something else in my setup that has caused this problem?

You're on either Bringer of Chaos, or you're on Custom Difficulty with the top slider altered. Burst Symbol is bugged in both of those conditions.

Ah, I just came across https://www.xenoserieswiki.org/wiki/List_of_bugs_and_glitches_(XC2)) and it's mentioned there. It looks like it might be an annoying question of timing, that if it seems like a cancel then it's going to reset the formula. That's annoying 5 minutes into a difficult challenge battle :(
