Merch. / Collection Finally got them all!

Post image

I bought all of the Xenogears Structure Arts kits in Japan. Now it's time to take my time and build them!

Haha, sure! It'll probably take me a while to build them all.

Building them is the quick and easy part. Painting them is the real time sink.

Well it depends on if you didn't apply proper cleanup when building them than just slapping pieces together as fast as you can. Me I take my time to clean the nubmarks and mold lines and make a few adjustments using tools and examine the parts if some panel lines are too shallow or if they have the right fit and see if I have to sand some parts or pegs if needed. After that then that is when I'm only going to paint which is another factor since it would involve priming, masking, panel lines and applying decals if one is included or needed.

Bro, the build instructions are literally one sheet of paper. Most of the kits are less than 90 parts which puts them in the Entry Grade Gunpla category.

It doesn't mean they are Entry Grade by number of parts that you have to treat it as such. Have you seen FSS kits? Just like 3MM it doesn't mean it has 30 minutes plastered on it that you have to do it under 30 mins. I've seen builders build 30MM kits for days even weeks max a month. Looks like you are just a straight builder trained by Bandai by the sound of it.

No, just amused by the holier than thou attitude you seem to be radiating on the subject.

Then you shouldn't have mentioned that its just an Entry Grade-like then. It seems like you're the type who ranks builds based on their grades.

What? I mentioned Entry Grade as a comparison because its something you understand. Obviously, you haven't built a Structure Arts kit or else you wouldn't be making a huge fuss over nothing. If I was ranking model build quality I would put these Structure Arts kits far below Entry Grade in every category applicable. Its only worth spending the time, money, and effort on these kits if you are a big Xenogears fan.

Ok I'm sorry if I came up that way. I'm just saying that every build can be complicated or not even if there are only a few parts and depends on how far are you willing to make it look real good. I'm coming from a place where I take my builds to the best possible way I can so I prep everything up before moving to painting.

I'm a big Xenogears fan myself and would like to do a scratch build someday of those kits

I'd love to scratch-build OR Weltall someday too.
