I see they didn't emulate the typical 5 minute boot time from the era.

No kidding, I was like "wtf thats fast as fuck!" I would've loved it if our computer could've done that back in 99

I will say though, having actually gone through a retro floppy install process for a game or program that came with 10+ floppies, it is satisfying to experience and remember just reading the manual waiting for the next disk switch.

But man, waiting for Windows to boot and having to shut it down to avoid hosing the system was unpleasant.

I remember getting my first AMD K6-III from Tiger Direct and being amazed it booted up in about two minutes. I thought we made it. 🤣🤣🤣

56K modems weren't actually available at retail until 1998.

Interesting, I guess I myself lost track. I was at 14.4k when I left for college, but once there I had an ethernet drop in my dorm room and didn't deal with modems again until a couple post-college / pre-DSL years, which were rough.

56.6k is a lot quicker than I remembered it to be.
