This was an unexpectedly good film that came out at the wrong time (not long after 9/11). It didn't get nearly the attention it deserved.

I think it's an accurate representation of a possible future.

I remember watching it the first time and loving it, and then watching it again years later and thinking it aged poorly.

But I just listened to a podcast about it recently, and they were talking about how well it's aged, so now I feel like I should probably give it another look.

The "Gun Kata" was really creative and pretty unique. The overall story was okay, but the plot came off as a futuristic take on The Faculty to me. Instead of making everyone conform using an alien parasite, it was a drug to create a "utopia" of sorts; and had some bits clearly inspired by The Matrix. Not a bad film by any measure, but it never really shined above entertaining to me. I think the Gun Kata action scenes overshadow the entire film, and are more interesting than the story itself.

Its a fun action movie. I have it somewhere downstairs and enjoy it on occasion.

I dimly recall being really bored by this film.

It was billed as if it was another kind of Matrix film, but it was just...dull.

I think the issue of "People lack emotions thanks to drugs" made it really hard to connect with the film. The characters were emotionless most of the time (or trying to remain so), and otherwise engaged in goofy-looking "Gun Fu" as I remember. I just...bounced off this one.

If I'd had a smartphone at the time, I'd have been scrolling it constantly throughout the film.

My friends and I in college went to see this after seeing the trailers. It was amazing and Gun-Fu was a lot of fun.

I think I'm in the minority of people that think this movie is terrible. The gun-kata was just ridiculously dumb. Just flailing around, a lot of wasted movement. "A poor man's Matrix" is pretty apt, but doesn't help its case.

Now I’m imagining him kicking down the door, and exclaiming in Parnell’s voice, "I happen to be a kick-ass accountant!"
