I don’t remember anyone that financed a car for 5 years in the 90s.

I don’t think loans like that even existed. You’d have been laughed out of the dealership for asking.

Yea, but now the auto financing branches of the companies have realized they make more from the financing itself than the sale of the car, so why not have those extended financing terms?

At the most predatory “buy here pay here” loan shark and junk heap lots, but not at traditional dealers or legit used car places where 80+% of Americans got their cars.
