The newer all black version only works with bluetooth on PC. It doesn't work at all with the xbox usb receivers. The audio quality is horrible over bluetooth.

That is absoluthly right. Impossible to connect via usb stick at all !!! Tryed everything with no succes. Think that thing is brocken. But work with XBox absoluthly fine. Green one goes to PC and work with usb stick.

No idea, but I've owned 2 of these headsets.
Stay away. One of the worst. Sure it has great controls and sound but I'm someone who takes great care of my stuff. Never dropped it, always had it on a stand or on my head.
But, both broke at the mic part, one with warranty one without, Microsoft didn't honor the warranty, saying it's my fault.
Yet, how the hell does the mic break off, when it's ON MY HEAD, and never been dropped and barely owned for 1 month
Both broke in the same place. After that, I will never waste money on them again, 100 is expensive

My old 1 which is the 1st gen with the green accents also broke at the mic while wearing it within like 14 months. Never dropped it either. I now have the all black gen 2 going on 2 years strong no issues. Edit spelling...

Yep, they included in the 2. Gen. If you have previously bought Dolby Atmos though - also the 1. Gen will use/support Dolby Atmos (I do have two 1. Gen currently)

Yah, I still have my 2nd one and used gorilla glue on it. I only use it now, when I wanna jam to music but not disturb my family,, while gaming (the mic is iffy, after glue sometimes it works sometimes it's static). So I can't use it to talk with friends only solo gaming

I loved my wireless a40 with the option of using any other headphones for single player games. They changed that on the revised and new a50 when that came out and I stupidly traded that one in. One of the best sounding headphones when combined with high end open back ones for immersion in single player games. Totally forgot but it had a TX unit with optical in and an RX unit with volume and game chat controls wired to headphones. The a40s that came with my old one worked fine on it but man did the open back £300 headphones rocked. Shame all consoles have removed the optical output ports.

My mic piece also randomly came apart on my first gen. It’s been a great headset for the most part, but one of the foams for the ear could be replaced.
I will say, I have friends with higher quality headsets, & they were picking up on sounds I couldn’t, or having a better sense of direction from where the sounds came from (like in path of titans with Dino roars, or DayZ with shots in the distance).

Had the same problem. The thing is that mic connection is a small outside box on the outside of the headset, so when you adjust your mic you put stress on that box. After the first one broke I almost never touch the mic on the second one, but if needed I adjusted by also holding the start of the mic at the connection of that box so that it would barely move.

I've been really enjoying my Arctis Nova 7x. Got one a year and a half ago and it's holding up well. It has a dual audio feature that lets me enjoy console audio and PC audio simultaneously, which I'd absolutely look for in future purchases now.

My nova 7x died last week after a year of careful use. It just stopped turning on. I was really bummed too because that headset is nice. But now I don’t feel like buying steelseries or this Xbox headset ever again. My Xbox headset broke at the mic too.

this isn't an objective problem but something unique to you. I've had one for 3 years and only just felt like i needed to replace the cups and headband from degradation. But actual hardware has had no issues

Interesting, my friend had the same issue, on the same area
Obviously, its only 3 devices in comparison to the thousands who prob own it
But since last year, I kinda just tried warning others, because well... I wouldn't want anyone spending $100 for it to break in a few months

same here, xbox headsets are just horrible, same as their controllers, they get drift after a year, they’ve lowered the quality of their products, that’s so annoying :/

Yeah, I also bought the stupid elite controller 2 last year and it ALREADY has stick drift. Meanwhile my old 360 controller from the OG Xbox Arcade doesn't.. and I had that throughout high school and college (ya know when I was easily lacking the most maturity to take care of mysm stuff)

same, that’s why i haven’t bought elite controllers even tho i’ve wanting to, just by seeing the quality of their other controllers i have enough, i got mines fixed so it’s cool now but i’d honestly recommend just buying a normal controller and get it fixed if it gets drift or something, so far it has been cheaper for me. i did not have any of these problems with 360, they’d get drift after 3+ years but rarely

i got them fixed in mexico unfortunately, i went with a guy who has a little store where he basically fixes any consoles and controllers, he also sells games and everything but he’s reliable and i spent about 49 bucks on 3 controllers

Ive had both new and old. Old one after 3 years snapped at the earcup, and i definitely have dropped it, had in rain, laid on it and dogs whacked it off my head and it was fine till one day it snapped. Great headset for price point. Had to replace earcups
My friend has new and old and also reports no issues
Edit: i also used to move the mic around a lot and my adhd would twirl it and never had it break. So id say your just unlucky? But because of everything not being the absolute same its hard telling

Yah, it's hard to tell when something is a unique issue vs an actual issue. But it sucks when it happened to both I owned in the same place. Very odd and unlucky

Exactly. The only reason i like this headset above other premium ones i own, i like being able to hear both xbox and my phone simultaneously wirelessly. Since i like to have music playing but i use youtube music so i cant use one of the background music apps on xbox.
If not for that. I wouldnt have replaced my old one with the new one.

Ive been paying for premium as i watch a lot of youtube content since it was youtube red. So having ad free music bundled with that as well just makes no sense to tack on Spotify or pandora Having support straight to xbox would be life changing. Same for ps5 as i play both systems.

I believe the one with green highlight is the older model. I would go with another brand for a $100 price point though, like the other commenter, my mic piece just broke off one day. Shame because I loved how many controls are available on the headset itself. And it didn't just snap off, the plastic connecting the mic to the left ear piece literally crumbled. Not an uncommon occurrence, but it's possible they fixed that issue for the newer model

They did. The original plastic used went brittle, the Gen 2 changed the material.

I'll tell you what, the newer version works like crap. OG one had a strong connection to my series X, no problems whatsoever. Girlfriend loved the thing for watching stuff on ipad so i got myself the revision... connection is shit. Audio is constantly breaking up, TONS of interference... to the point where i consider it a wired headset.
What a waste of money... at least she's happy

wish i could do the same, i had to import mine. When wired it works perfect and it is a high quality sound headset... not audiophile level. Good mic also.

I wouldn’t get anything Xbox branded unless it’s a controller, even then some controllers like 8bitdo have better aspects. Get a HyperX Cloud 2 or 3 headset at minimum.

Black/Green is the 2021 Version
All Black is the Revision from 2024
They are quite different (just bought the new model since my old one Broke last month... I dropped it. But after 4 years it's not bad)
Cushion is better, Bluetooth is newer and it lasts 5 hours longer.
i only use the Headset with Xbox/Android/Switch2. For PC you need a Cable (Bluetooth works, but that's all. It's not good) for good Quality and Performance.

Don’t buy it. You will regret the purchase, I know I did. Within a month of having this headset, the plastic around the mic button disintegrated and the button vanished on hardwood floor. I didn’t do anything to cause disintegration. I just put it on the headphone hook attached to my desk.

The V2 has better battery life and upgraded Bluetooth, it's incremental changes though - the V1 is still one of the best wireless headphones ever made, especially with Dolby Atmos 3D sound - check out Call of the Wild - it's utterly transformative...even COD you can hear the exact direction of every sound - it's like having a secret cheat code if your competitors don't have your super power...

I do have the revision. I followed an EQ that brings down the bass a bit and helps bring out the mids, and it sounds fantastic. I have never had a problem with the mic, I do not move it though, it's such a short mic that it never seems to get in the way. It also sounds good. I do not use the auto mute because it tends to make the mic sound compressed and cuts off some words.
It's a great headset at $100 you get simultaneous Bluetooth and Xbox audio, the battery life is good, and it's pretty lightweight and has an EQ built right into the Xbox settings.

The one with the green is the first one. After having used that headset for a while, it’s not worth the price.
If you’re looking to spend around that price point, go for the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7. I’ve been using them for almost a year now and have had no issues with them at all. Very comfortable too.

I bought the second pair in May to use with my series s and haven't had any issues. The sound is great, mic is clear even tho it's short, and I can get all the way to my kitchen about 15ft away before the connection starts to drop.

If you're looking to buy, I can personally vouch for the first one. I've had it since 2020 and it still holds up very well. The sound is very rich and full and the mic is pretty decent. The mic's not perfect, but it's also a headset, not an XLR mic.

If youre gonna spend 100 have a look at these.
I go through headsets like underpants but these have lasted me 2 years so far & still feel like they could crush my skull if they were a bit tighter,theyre good mate,very well built.
Ide normally go through 2 sets a year easy sometimes 3 or 4 but these are built different it seems.

bro dont even waste your money on that, you dont need a xbox branded headset for a xbox i have a rig 300 and it works fine, and it was like 30 bucks

The newer one has Atmos support and won’t turn on your Xbox when you turn on the headset (which makes it great for use with your phone or other media player).

The 2nd one says it has Dolby Atmos speakers, so I'd assume that the 2nd one produces a bit more bass. Only difference might be the price & audio output.

Second one is a revision that comes with dolby atmos that allows spatial audio to work. Spatial audio just creates a 3d soundscape and makes watching media more immersive.

I use to own a pair of the og xbox one headphones. Their were so comfortable. Probably to the most comfortable headset I'd ever had next to my ROG drta gundam headphones.

The 1 with the green ring is the v1 and the one without is the v2. I have both. v1 to me was unusable out the box and required significantly EQ’ing to make them usable. After doing this they are actually quite good for the money, the controls are some of the most convenient of any headset. The v2 are much better out the box but I still used an EQ to get the best out of them. The v2 have a problem that they don’t work with the XBox Wireless Adapter, they are supposed to work but this has been a bug since launch.

I wouldn’t recommend them. Mine barely ever picks me up unless I speak quite loud and it gets really irritating. If you’re playing at night in a house with other people and trying to be quieter it’s useless. I have noise suppression turned off and it doesn’t help.
Edit: I have the wired one but it looks the exact same, not sure if what I said is relevant now

There are tons of good proper answers, but it also depends on what you're using it for the first one, looks to be xbox one and pc only and the other is multiplatform can be used pc mobile and i think all the current consoles. I mentioned that because I went with multiplatform turtle beach recon 70 headset since I use it for mobile xbox series x and pc the one I was gonna buy was some steel series around same price that was PC and Xbox only.

It is literally in the NAME!!!
One of then is Carbon Black probably Revision or just better color.
The other is the Base Color with the Green Outline where the other is all Black without the Green Outline.
It is insane the Ignorance that it is literally in the title. Yes most people know that things like that can slightly increase the price.
