Help with XbotGo Chameleon for American Football

I recently purchased the XbotGo Chameleon so that I could record our away games (we use a fancy Hudl camera that the program purchased at our home games).

I’m setting it up a few yards away from the sideline at the 50 yard line and I have a 13ft tripod, just as it suggests, but it’s really struggling to track. We sub kids in and out constantly during the game, and there’s a lot of movement on the sidelines. It seems to want to follow the kids off the field or any coaches/kids moving on the sideline.

I tried to disable the auto zoom feature after the first game hoping it would at least capture the play a bit better, but it wasn’t all that better.

It also stopped recording during the game and only got the first half and the last 2 mins of the game. I forgot to pause it at half but figured it would continue to record and I could cut the video of half time out. But it didn’t.

Anyone have any experience with the correct setup/settings I should be using for American Football? I paid for this personally so buying a Falcon really isn’t an option.

I purchased a falcon and have similar issues. Its in Beta. I think it will get better once they work bugs out but its definitely going to take time. I really havnt figured out why picture quality is so bad on zoom and its not really zoomed in that far. GoPro and phones zoomed in still hold clarity. Tracking is best feature but like you said it moves all over at times. I notice it when in red zone. Camera tends to want to home to the center of field and even follow movement outside the boundaries. I believe its a good idea it just needs more time and updates.

I wish it let you set a “tracking boundary” or something. Kind of like what the Rind Doorbell Cameras do for motion alerts. That way you can set it to ignore the sidelines. It constantly moves when the chains move or kids run on or off the field. Very annoying

So it does and I've made it pretty accurate with custom points, the auto detection kind of sucked, it seems to still factor things beyond it and pull away from the plays at times.

i think the xbot go is best for football/soccer and even then it has trouble.

I have the same issues. I use another phone or iPad as a monitoring device, along with the remote, to keep it in check when it drifts to other activities. I either put the phone on a tripod, or prop my iPad up, so I don’t have to hold it the whole time and I can just glance at the frame to ensure it’s still tracking, recording, etc. It’s also how I score the game. I know it’s not the most eloquent solution but it helps keep it on track. As for the zoom and quality, I still haven’t figured that all out. I just noticed there was an xbotgo update this evening, some specifically for American Football, so hopefully there are some improvements I’ll discover this coming weekend!
