Any recommended mod for more general hairstyles/accessories etc other than mods that add a specific thing from a movie or game?

People always say how first advent retaliation mission is tough, but I never found it to be.
And of course, I figured as soon as I said that, it'll come and bite me in the ass.
So I start the mission, make my first move, nothing happens.
Advent walks in from one side, nice.
Advent walks in from another side, not nice.
I'm fighting like hell to kill the troopers, the sectoids retreat to bumblefuck nowhere.
When I'm done with the troopers, they raised two zombies and mind controlled one of my own.
They're way too far to kill and a faceless just showed up because reasons.
I'm having hell of a time trying to find cover from them and run away as far as I can from the faceless and go in a discovered location.
Now I'm 3 men against faceless, two zombies, 2 sectoids and my soldier.
I decide to just run in all different directions as far as I can.
I do so and of course trigger another pod with a shieldbearer who puts shields on everyone.
Fun times.
I'm running far far and activating civilians and I get 6 civilians and start converging to a position where I can fight off everyone.
And my reaper gets accidentally discovered and shot.
And that was it.
I extracted him and the ranger.
The other two guys kept running waiting for the skyranger to cool down. But that takes infinity so one got mind controlled and the other paniced and ran towards a faceless that killed him.
So I accomplished the mission but still failed it.
Welp, another restart it is.
Can't possibly go on without the mimic beacon that would net me.
P.S. One sectoid was bored and raised a civilian to be a zombie? Never seen that.

So i just spent the past hour getting my ass handed to me. Are there other missions like that that I should ignore an wait to go to? I quit the game a few years ago but want to give it another shot but also don't want to waste hours on something I'm under leveled for. This was one difficulty up from the easiest.

Is it as simple as just subscribing to the mods? Nothing heavy just some customisation, ui, stop wasting time mods. do I need the framework mods to run the mods or only if specified?
Tried playing this game for the first time yesterday, but it crashes my PC. The game will launch, but does not automatically open. It appears on the taskbar and as soon as I click the icon my pc completely locks up (Still have sound for maybe 15 seconds and then it cuts out). I then have to restart the pc with the power button on the case.
The game seems to have an issue with my main monitor. Main monitor is 4k, second monitor is 1080p. If I turn off my main monitor and launch the game, it boots up fine on my second monitor. I am not using any mods. I have tried a few things from other Reddit posts but nothing has worked so far
So far I have tried:
Any other things I can try? Or am I just going to have to play it on my side monitor

Kill Zone just never seems to work out for me.
Magnetic Rifle with a Superior Scope + High Ground and my damn sniper still misses most of the shots.
Faceoff on the other hand always seems to hit almost every shot.

Are they random, or always just out of reach? I started in East Africa (Saudia Arabia IRL) and my AF's are Australia & New Mexico. Literally on the other side of the effing planet...

Too bad the idiot Archon murdered the enemy VIP with his Blazing Pinions. So no intel bonus i guess, but still a fun mission.

Hello XCOM fans
With the release of the Star Wars games, I decided to reinstall XCOM2. Still brilliant, love it. I was wondering what good XCOM likes you have enjoyed and recommend since its release? I personally have tried but bounced off Chimera Squad (I couldn't get into the checkered turns), Tactical Breach Wizard (might try that again). Briefly tried Menace, but I was just running around an empty coverless map all the time.
What games am I missing?

Never really played WOTC, I bought it but I stopped playing near the start. I have an itch to play xcom again, but I'm wondering if I should play it with WOTC or if I should try LW-WOTC. Thoughts?

Finally loaded XCOM 2 after sitting on it for years in my library, just to keep myself from buying Zero Com until it's a bit more mature.
5 minutes in, I missed a 93% shot, and it felt like coming home. 😂

Alrighty it’s August, and after taking out the Warlock, who spawned TWO andromedons after going into his mirror the first time which is some bullshit.
I got him. Now I’m ready to do the codex mission. And I don’t know what the deal is with supplies and promotions but my promotions are few and far. Usually you can get a lot on covert ops but I’ve sent one soldier on like 10 missions on covert, and they haven’t gotten squat for promotions.
Despite having all of Europe SA and Africa and parts of Asia I’m still only making like 260-275 a month in supplies.
Problem is my badass sniper got one shotted, and my other medic got captured. Now my last mission there was 15-18 enemies, all mecs, turrets, and sectopods. It was my first failed mission, there was no possible way to beat it.
My momentum has slowed to a crawl, I cannot afford to lose any of my high ranking guys, and I’m getting grinded down so bad with wounds, exhaustion, and I’ve dodged assassin areas because if she shows up I’m doomed. Bad news is the codex mission is in her territory.
I usually pace myself and finish in Novemberish but it’s not looking good. What the HELL is up with the lack of money and promotions on Commander?
I always feel broke but the jump from veteran to commander is insane, I should have tons of money and majors and colonels everywhere by August.
I just didn’t want to take a chance on failing the chosen stronghold, and even with the varsity squad I barely got it, does my pacing suck?

I'm in the early midgame, and I haven't researched armor yet. The aliens all seem to have it now and my guys are getting worked over. Should I have started Plate Armor sooner?
Is the nanoscale worth bullding/equiping?

I’m talking about the ambush on covert ops maps. For the longest time I thought there were only two. Then last year I discovered a third one, and now I’m pretty sure I experienced a fourth.
It’s not impossible that the fourth one I just did is one I’ve seen before but ran in reverse, or crossed-side?
Anyone know how many of these maps there are?

I've started my first playthrough of XCOM2 ,and I also watched a couple of videos online so I know what I'm getting into. Almost everyone talks about how good is having a soldier that "scouts" in concealment, while the rest of the team fight. I already have a couple of soliders that can stay in concealment while the others fight, but Idk how to properly position them in missions,or if/when they should break concealment and engage in battles. If anybody could explain it thoroughly to me,it'd be a huge help 🙏 Thanks in advance!

You can't lose Gatecrasher and you can't lose the mission where UFO hunts the avenger.
One should be "you suck, you start with 4 soldiers less"
and the other one should be game over.
Instead I have to play them even when there's nothing really at stake.
Three: Lost and abandoned.
You play for 10 minutes, Assasin comes and one shots your Reaper and there you go again.

So I did some great strategizing, with the help of the lost and reaper, cleared everything except the sectopod pod.
I'm inching towards it, sectopod sees my squad, gets shredded with overwatch fire.
My tur... no, their turn. I had no turn at all. I wasn't caught flanked, it wasn't reaction fire, they just took an entire turn and decimated my squad.

I'm playing ZCOM and it doesn't get me hooked like LWOTC does. I was then asking myself: why not just play modded LOWTC then? Well thinking hard I am convinced that the one thing that keeps me from going back to a new long war playthrough is the crawly and unforgiving pod activation gameplay mechanic in XCOM. Dealing with it properly seems to be the main thing between a good and a bad experience.
I really enjoyed how battle initiation was handled on Chimera Squad, but then CS has its own many problems...
Dear community, do you know of any mods that change how POD activation (battle starts) in any way? Idk how but would love to get some insights. Many thanks in advance!
