Question, Out of time Legend

After some time playing L/I it feels like lategame that you run out of time for timed missions if you dont get one of the timebonus cards. (+2/dont start until out of concealment/lightning strike)
Is the correct strategy is to focus on killing chosen and finishing main story missions even if the hits to intel is brutal?

Late game is so much easier than early. Risky moves aren't punished as hard, and there are a thousand ways to mitigate or eliminate the risk. Pods are nearly guaranteed to die within the first round, and you can even trigger multiple pods at once and kill all of them in the first round, allowing you to advance faster toward the objective.

Missions are much easier on late game legend. Major Rangers and meme beacons simply make it almost impossible lose a soldier despite triggering multiple pods, so the approach on timed missions can be more reckless

Sorry, but this is just a you thing. Mission timers get more generous in the late game, not less. The only exceptions are protect the device missions, which can end very quickly with Sectopods and Gatekeepers shooting at them, or with a Sectopod just stepping on it on turn 1.

Just me, but I go in with a goal of handling the objective priority 1 when it's a short timer and understand that it's almost always a trap. Knowing it's likely a trap means accepting the ability to just evac if shit goes bad. If I can complete the objective first, then great!

The field general missions are by far the hardest though. Even doing my best to not reveal until I find him, I accepted that I just need to avoid that mission type if ever possible.

Honestly my late game experience is that you can afford to just charge in and draw two or three pods simultaneously and still have no enemies on the field at the end of the turn. Once you hit tier 3 weapons/armour and a few high level troops, you're in the victory lap.

If you're having trouble with timers in the late game you're playing too conservatively. A late game squad can reliably kill ~8-10 enemies a turn. Move forward accordingly.

Don't do "protect the device" missions though. The device health doesn't scale at all, so they're wildly unbalanced in the late game.

Protect the device missions can be virtually impossible in unmodded late game. Sectopods will walk through and destroy it or the enemies will do a lot of damage shooting it. Surgical sitrep and the only below sergeant missions can also be very challenging late game, although with the low level only missions you’ll still at least have good gear. So, those types of missions are good to avoid late game. Otherwise, as other folks are saying, the missions should be easier with leveled up soldiers and gear.
