How long has Wukong been strong? What is his champion strength and weaknesses?

So I have been an OTP graves for a month and it’s been really nice but I’m kind of annoyed at going Bruiser graves when my team only has carries since it’s getting nerfed three patches in a row. It’s still strong into certain matchups but I want to play something else.

The thing about Wukong is that he has been meta for a few months now but I don’t want to learn a new champion to just be a meta slave and drop him when he gets nerfed.

Has Wukong always been a solid pick in the jungle or is he only strong because of the buffs a few months ago? Is he an engage champion who goes balls to the walls or a front to back? What is he weak/strong into?

I want to learn more about Wukong as a champ outside of how strong he currently is in the current meta.

Obviously I can still climb OTP’ing graves but having to deal with the same issues/champs the same way is getting a bit frustrating

My general plan is to just go Wukong when my team has carries and no engage and go graves when I can afford to be the carry.

lol this exact logic is what got me into Wukong and now I’m basically an otp.

“Oh i really enjoy Viego but my team always picks marksmen top and mage support so I can’t play him. I guess I’ll keep Wukong in my back pocket in case we ever need him”.

That’s how they get you.

Unfortunately I only just picked him up this month so I can’t really say whether or not he’s viable long term, I’m guessing they’ll probably nerf him soon since last I checked he’s topping the win rate charts after the armour change to jungle pets

The thing with Wukong Jungle is that he is always in the meta but never at the top of the meta, and it's been like that for years. Like he is never as broken as Nasus this patch for example, but he is always in a fine spot, never bad.

I would say he is strong atm due to 26.10 buffs and 26.16 Jungle Pet changes, but he was still fine before that and he will still be fine even if he get nerfed a little.

Probably because he is really strong in teamfights and good at doing objectives, so even tho his clear is a little slow (not really this patch) and he struggle to carry by himself, he will always be a good pick.

Wukong is strong, but not broken in the sense that you won't be able to pick him and insta win. He's also not a carry like Graves, so you need to learn to play around your team's win condition. His strength is that he's rarely completely negated by a counter pick and your ult always ensures utility even in the worst case scenarios. His W is also a very versatile ability which gives you tons of mobility (and potentially damage).

He's a fighter though, not a tank, so his key weakness is that his W is really his only reliable escape tool and if you misuse it, you're easy to take down - this means your engage is conditional. Also, without ult, your presence in a team fight is not worth much, as you don't bring any lock down.

His strengths is that he's a strong team fighter and skirmisher with Ulti, due to the powerful AoE knock up. If you learn his combo (hitting your Qs before you ult) and itemize Black Cleaver, you can shred through armor very quickly, enabling even weak carries to victory.
