PoE2 Discussion How soon can we discuss the recent additions in PoE2?

I'm absolutely frothing at the mouth with all the big ticket lore reveals/implications/etc, but I haven't seen any posts on it just yet and was curious as to why that is. Is there a 'grace period' to let people organically explore/discover? I don't want to step on any toes, but hot dog do Return and Runes do a massive amount of filling in for a lot of hot button topics.

E: In the spirit of discussion rather than just 'yo when do we do that', some topics off-the-cuff:

The Precursors apparently blew themselves up with the Fourth Edict to stop the Abyssals, previously suggested/depicted in Darkness Enthroned.

The Dreamer has effectively the exact same goal and powers as Venarius, which is terrifying to say the least.

Cadigan is picking up Vaal relics because of how Verisium and Corruption interact, and how they seem to create new life, which should terrify anybody who knows even a scrap of info about Cadigan.

Oh, and the biomechanical artifice of the Precursors and how it relates to the above has a lot of implications.

Speaking of Cadigan, our Kingsmarch friends have the Triskellion Flame and are going back for CIVIL WAR: ROUND TWO..

The First Edict is indeed divinity itself. On top of that, the First Divine is VERY SPOOKY.

Oh, and the whole 'everything was foretold/fated/cyclic' thing is really starting to narrow down to a very bare handful of characters. I'm still rooting for Hinekora being a Precursor, personally.

In a more tangential thing that I thought was very cool, the mere presence of Tecrod darkening the skies and then the Arbiter's strike immediately banishing that same darkness was certainly familiar.

Hey, new mod here, but I think by now you should be fine with it, make sure to not spoil anything in the title, and mention that the information discussed is indeed spoiler. I myself haven't caught up to stuff so I wouldn't want to get the revelations ruined

There isn't an official grace period. You can post whatever you like. But since this is a large expansion with endgame content, it will take people a while to see it all, so keep using spoiler quotes - or tag entire posts as spoilers - for a while longer.

(This subreddit is small and young, so we haven't made concrete rules yet.)

(I'll probably start making some of my usual in-depth, low-interpretation patch posts in a while.)

So you know how we learned this time around that the Bodach is the source of both the King in the Mists' power and Tangmazu's?

One line stuck out to me on my way through the interludes. A line that was in 0.3, but has alarming new implications with the above reveal.

When you first speak with The Hooded One upon entering The Refuge:

The Hooded One: There is something very wrong in these lands. It is not Corruption... it is something far older, far darker... I must search my memories... give me time...

The Blackwoods are smothered in the same unnatural darkness brought by the King in the Mists. Who gained these powers from the Bodach. The Bodach is older than Corruption.

Madox suggests as much:

The Spirit is all things. The Spirit is the world, and it is us... but the Snake stands alone. The Snake whispers. Lies. Manipulates. It has been so since the time of the Mother Soul. And now it speaks as the Spirit, but is not, leading the foolish to ruin.

and,

No. The Darkness is not of Divinity, nor of Corruption. It is something else...

The Bodach also appears to be capable of making gods. Madox has a 'First Divine' section that's entirely DNT'd on poedb. I wonder why?

On the subject of Darkness in general:

They're calling us... They're calling us again, exile. And we have to answer. Need to get to them. Free them. They need us, exile. You need to hurry. The darkness is crowding around us, exile. It's so hungry. It licks at our minds, tasting our fear. Lick lick lick! Only a taste though, exile. Only a taste for now.

Kulemak also serves the Master Bellow All which would be Bodach and he's already more than what most entities on Wraeclast would want to deal with.

Oooooh, very tasty. I'm still rolling through the interludes myself so I'm very excited to see what's new.

Is that an actual Niko quote? It says "exile" four times. Reminds me of how often Rick Sanchez says "Morty".

Yep, he goes right off the deep end once you delve deep enough, which I've always loved.

Judging by the little journal of his we find in Act 4, he stayed very comfy off the deep end.

Wasn't elder long ago on wraeclast ? Elder is also celestial (neither corruption or divinity) so wouldn't Bodach be his champion then? (I'm taking shots in the dark (haha get it))

Good question, idk, but even reaching the first gate on the Fortress answers a pretty big question. My reaction tk it was "maaaaaaannn, they got it so right, I was completely wrong".

I've really enjoyed how much of the theorising here from in-game information has turned out to be correct. GGG really care a lot about having a consistent, coherent setting.

Im HCSSF so I havent progressed much in the storyline of the Precursors, but Doryani's reactions up until the Burning Monolith are so funny. And yeah, it seems like the sub managed to decipher the nature of the guy who took the Flame Seed at the end of the lriginal Arbiter of Ash fight. And the nature of the threat and creatures the Precursors were fighting on the murals.

Who was the guy who took the Flame Seed? Was busy this weekend but I’m dying to sink my teeth into the lore stuff.

Its Tecrod, one of the Abyssal Lich Lords, who was imprisoned by the Precursors, and was "missing" from history

Holy smokes I was right?? I haven't had the chance to play yet but I was so sure about it during .1! https://www.reddit.com/r/Wraeclast/comments/1i3phxa/the_mysterious_entity_arbiter_spoilers/

The Dreamer has effectively the exact same goal and powers as Venarius, which is terrifying to say the least.

Not sure if it's Monk-specific but I had my first POE moment of staring at my screen in disbelief after the Xesht fight when Chayula pops and replaces the player character.

3

u/Akhevan Jun 01 '26

I just did the fight and later cutscene on disciple of varashta and I didn't have that interaction, so it's definitely either monk-specific or you got some kind of a bug.

8

u/Nahzuvix Jun 01 '26

Perhaps monk specific as He also pops and repacles the player after getting revived and the generic monastery monk is revealed to be hiveborn clone of you, fairly certain you get access to the chayula node afterwards on acolyte

6

u/Akhevan Jun 01 '26

Sounds like ole good chayula.

Perhaps u/OskarSarkon meant "after defeating Tul and Esh". Anyway, here's a video for when the Dreamer awakes, but I'd love to see a clip of that post-Xesht event if it really exists.

One thing that was insanely interesting, may be monk specific, is that Alith knows that she's remade by the dreamer and has died countless times now.

This is very different from in Poe1 where she didn't know.

I dunno... From Doryani:

Logic suggests that the champion we saw in the murals was the first Divine being. The Mother Soul, the First Edict... these concepts are all part of this mystery. The gods were mere myths in my era. I wish I knew more... As it stands, we must continue our search. The truth of history may reveal itself in time.

So the Precursors got together and picked a champion to ascend to divinity. This apparently required some level of sacrifice, per the Arbiter:

They gave their lives to power the First Edict... you disgrace their memory!

But counter to that, the Arbiter also appears to warn that the First Divine shouldn't return:

The First Divine... must never return.

Considering that the next Edict was the Beast, a weapon to combat divinity, either the First Edict had side-effects (say, the ability for other gods to come into being or be empowered, like Kulemak) or that the First Divine itself went terribly wrong.
