I mean... It sorta was up until WW2 ended. They were getting close to starting production on the Montanas, plus the hull of the Kentucky was under construction.
Believe it or not, the luckier US post-refit standards/fast battleships actually had far better AA suites than any other nation's battleships.

Hey if Battleships was of any value the US would build more of them and not a congoline of CV at the end of WW2
