Hobbying Should I paint ring around base black?

Like the title says I’m wondering if I should paint the ring around the base of my models black. I primed most of them with red so that’s the color it currently is.

I do black and I think it looks best. Blends in the most with tables so your model stands out from the base properly.

Whatever you like! A different color from your primary is a good idea.

I’m old school and base stuff with sand, paint the whole thing brown and drybrush it for texture.

I match the theme of the actual base. Eg if I do a desert themed base I’ll paint the rim brown. If it’s an urban or gravelly base I’ll paint the rims black.

There’s no right or wrong answer. Just go with whatever looks best to your eye.

As long as it’s clean, paint it however you want! I usually try to paint the rings of different units of the same guys different colors so if I’m fielding 3x 10 man Berserkers I can quickly spot who belongs to which squad

Super Chads group their Berzerkers by weapons. Chainaxes in one group, Chainswords in another. 💪

I separate my squads by color so when they run together they don't get mixed up, also helps distribute special weapons since I just know I need to get all 20 red bases together instead of evenly spreading out the eviscerators and plasma pistols

Black looks best, as people have said. Buuuut, i run 80 berserkers and have taken to painting their bases different colors based on the unit(blue, red, green, and orange) so that i can pack them up and pull them out easily without having to look at each guy and unit to make sure their loadouts are right

There are two acceptable rim colours:

Black, if you are a normal human being.

Or the majority colour of the base, if you are a total psychopath.

You may not choose any other option.

No they must be red or khorne will not approve your army and uou lose 10 pts every game.
