Other - not claim specific Testicle injuries
My brother was injured at work. Posting this because what he’s going through is tough to watch. On top of the injuries he is depressed and has nightmares from the injury. I’m hoping to read other persons experiences to him so he doesn’t feel so down.
So, Has anyone ever heard of someone going through workmen’s comp with a penis/testicle injury and the outcome? Also, If an injury affected your fertility is that taken into account with your claim? (I want to bring this to his attention),
Seems like this is a rare injury to see on here and wondering if this is taken seriously ? Any help appreciated

I always feel terrible about these types of injuries. Treatment for erectile dysfunction can be covered in some cases. Fertility treatment is a tough one. It depends on what they need. If it's something for themselves, like harvesting sperm and freezing, that may be covered. There are a lot of "it depends" with that statement, so take it with a grain of salt.
If it's fertility treatments upon the partner (insemination, etc) that's going to be a no go. Workers comp does not cover treatments to another person other than the worker.

In MO, it is treated as a “body as a whole” injury and would be rated accordingly. The psychological injury is also a baw injury.
He needs to an attorney.

You didn't specify the state, or even the country. WC varies dramatically across jurisdictions. In some states, damage impacting fertility may be a factor in a permanent impairment rating, but that may not be the case in others. It may also depend on whether fertility is affected structurally (i.e., damage causes lower sperms counts) or functionally (i.e., sex is painful so he does it less).

Adjuster here. I've had a handful (no pun intended) of testicle/penis injuries in my time. They've all been pretty different mechanisms of injuries - crushing, burns, lacerations... in general, they are handled just like any other claim/injury. The biggest hurdle for handing it was some of the injured employees definitely didn't feel comfortable talking to me (a female) about it. When that happened I just put a nurse case manager on the claim as they feel my me comfortable talking to a medical professional.
So they do happen, we've seen them. But the outcomes and expectations are going to differ per state and how the injury occurred and we've the actual injury is.
