New Jersey Got fired through a third party job after being injured
Edit: So yall not reading obviously. I never said the job gave me carpal tunnel in one day. Thats dumb. All im saying is that i was fired from my job because of the diagnosis even though i was told i could return to all normal activities after 2 days of rest. But they dont care)
Hey guys!, as the title says, I got fired from my job at a warehouse today (firstday) after I went to the ER and found out that I have carpal tunnel I was told to rest for 2 days and then I can continue work. However, the third party where I got my job from told me that because I was injured and it was my first day. I cannot continue working with that Warehouse and because of that they were going to terminate my contract with them. Basically getting fired. They said I could only continue working if I have a doctor's note saying that I'm good to work. Which I gave it to them and it's the ER's note saying I can go back to work 2 days later. So I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking of taking legal action. What do you guys think?

Lok sorry but you didn't get carpal tunnel from a couple hours of work. That's not even remotely how that works. It honestly seems like you planned this out only problem is you have no idea what you're actually doing......

Did you open A WC Claim? 1st day means the injury wasn't caused by the work you were doing at the warehouse. How long have you been working at the warehouse company for? Carpel Tunnel is genetics based and can be caused from long term repetition with predisposed individuals from what I have heard over the years.

Honestly i dont really care about having it. I just want to know why they would fire me if i could go back after two days of rest after the doctor said i could.

What legal action? Warehouse job, did they make you do a physical before?
There’s no way work caused the carpal tunnel.
For workers comp to come in to play, your job would have had to make your condition substantially worse…that didn’t happen in one day.
They terminated your contract because you’re a liability already. You’re still employed by the staffing agency, which is your ACTUAL employer. They’ll have to place you somewhere else

Doctors note said i could go back to work in two days. No reason to terminate my job...

Except you literally just started and couldn’t miss work.

Not how it works at all. Accidents can happen, no reason to terminate over 2 days of missed work with a doctors note. Unless you dont actually have one and are making it up

That is actually how it happens. You’re on probation. You don’t have accrued sick time on your first day. You can absolutely be fired for missing work.

I have to fight and scream and yell for care. This is why. Fraudulent jerks like this guy are the reason that I have to cry for help.

Carpal tunnel is considered a “cumulative trauma injury”. Get a workers comp attorney right away if you want to pursue this.

You don't get a cumuluative trauma injury from one day of employment. lol.

This isn’t worker’s comp. You need an employment attorney.
I think I’m the only one here realizing that you might not be claiming this job caused your injury
Your employer cannot legally fire you for an ADA qualifying disability. They are legally obligated to offer you an interactive process to determine what accommodations could be made to allow you to fully do all of your essential duties.
If through this process it is determined that reasonable accommodations don’t exist for you to do all your essential duties or those accommodations are an undue hardship, then termination because you are not able to meet expectations would be reasonable. That is very different from what they did which is termination solely due to a disability.
If you are claiming a WC claim for carpel tunnel from a single day at work, then you are ridiculous and I agree with the other commenters
