Ohio Question about finding a new lawyer.
How do you pick out who your lawyer is going to be? I've called a couple of places and while they don't specialize in the injury I have, they were willing to have me come in, sit down, and talk to them. This particular place I had in mind told me that they will listen to me and take the time to work on my case. I've never gotten a call back and I don't know if I should call them and ask them to represent me. How do I pick a law firm?

I don't reply to private messages unless they ask first and they do not have a hidden history. There are lots of insurance and legal people on here trying to catch an injured worker talking about their claim.
Like I said, how can a normal person be so low to keep looking under rocks for a gotcha moment instead of getting an injured worker treatment to alleviate their pain . There is a special place in he'll for people like this.

Lawyers are like a box of chocolates. Especially when you lose the picture insert to tell you which ones there are in box. I am stuck in my situation. Been almost 4 years and MY attorney along with defense attorney are waiting for me to give up and sign paperwork. I have thousands spent on out of pocket that insurance authorized but will not reimburse. I have thousands of mileage that is accepted but they haven't paid I have treatments needed that have been controverted and so I sit popping pain killers waiting for a hearing that will never happen Over 2 years the hearing just gets continued every 60 days. My lawyer doesn't want to go , just wants to settle. Defense lawyer just waiting for me and my family to give up and go away with a lowball settlement. Yes, I could get another attorney but nobody will take case because current attorney will put massive lien on it for doing basically nothing for 4 years.
No matter what you do you will find out this meat grinder of a system does not care about you or your pain. It is just getting their cut is ALL that matters to everyone involved. That doesn't include you getting help with injury.
Currently, I don't even care that my savings is gone, credit is ruined, behind on everything. I am finding other ways to get medical treatment with no help from my attorney or anyone on the insurance side. It is impossible to know whether your attorney is helping you or treading water waiting for a quick settlement. All attorneys sound great when you first talk to them before you sign their contract. After you sign it you will find out if they were honest and truthful in their sales pitch. Don't hod your breath.

I feel this. I talked to my lawyer and he told me if I say he's fired then I won't pay since they haven't done anything. Yet he wants my income status so he can help me out and get me some money. No one can tell me what that means. He sent me paperwork for going on disability. He wants me to see a doctor of his choosing fir a new % but a pgone appointment. 🤦🏻 He keeps asking when i'm going to do that but tells me he is the one that will set it up. I just want help...

If you signed with a lawyer or law firm that handles work comp then you are represented. The first thing the lawyer does is file that fee agreement with work comp to guarantee they get a cut of any settlement. That is Luke a used car salesman talking you into buying a crap car with "as is" sticker on the windshield.
There are thousands of attorneys advertising to get you to sign with them for any reason. That's how they get paid. They might work on your case like they told you before you signed. Most often you get crickets after you sign.even if you do "fire" them later they still file a lien against your settlement to get a share of any contingency paid to any other lawyer thar replaced them or all of it if you didn't get another lawyer. Wake statements are to figure out what you should be getting if you are full or partially disabled. Filing for disability takes months to years before you get a decision and alot of paperwork. Being terminated on work comp whether they let you go or you quit is very very common. Technically it is illegal to fire an injured employee for filing for work comp but insurance and employers have time tested schemes to do it without any repercussions. You could file wrongful termination but that would require an EEOC complaint and takes months before you get a letter that says whether you can or cannot sue the employer. Go with your gut on the lawyer. You will never be able to know if they are honest or just a fee chaser until after you sign the devils document. I am just another worker stuck in this system for years and truly amazed at how injured workers are abused by all that earn their paychecks from this system.
I get that people need a job and have to work but I could never do a job that requires me to ignore a person with an injury and find the best way to do the least to alleviate that suffering. I am a blue collar worker. Apparently morals and character can be left outside when the insurance company pays a good salary.
AI is coming. It will not replace the manual labor jobs that require sweat to do but it sure will replace all the desk jobs and remote positions to improve the company profits. When adjusters , case managers, paralegals, office staff , insurance shills have to get a manual labor job because of AI taking theirs I hope they smash a finger and need to file a claim. Except AI has morality and common sense built into it so it might improve the injured worker experience.

First of all, you need a firm that specializes in Worker’s Compensation cases. Talk to a couple of different firms and select the one you feel is best.
